The terms are interchangeable because they derive from the Latin for "I am going to take your money" and the Greek, "I will separate fools from their money". These two projections are directed at the naive, the folks who, despite 30 years of evidence, believe the FO has any other aim but to enrich themselves by pretending that they will do something to improve the team. But as we buckle down for another year of what ifs, and teased scenarios where we get the better players, rather than give them away, we are left watching this FO declare a strategy, a strategy founded on improving the mess that the team is, only to see the same play out year over year with FA signings or trades for players like Jonathan Mingo, Paris Hilton's little known brother, two linebackers named Ken, neither can play a lick, but hey they know the system.
Strategy, dangle big names, but never execute to acquire, then when almost everything appears lost, we look for players that were mistakenly drafted early by other teams in years past, and we get them for two beans and a dried-out date with the promise that the original assessment was correct and all they need is a change of scenery or a new coach, or a new scheme. They have uniformly not worked out. You get exactly what the player is, a JAG on his way out of the league. But, but the marketing factor is so huge, that ticket prices increase, the cost of a hot dog and a beer break national records and Jethro and his son Bodine, get to cart more of your money to their banks and they get to buy a new plane, yacht, or a nice piece of art for Granny.

And who says this isn't the greatest show on earth? https://cdn.thecollector.com/wp-con...num-portrait-bailey.jpg?width=1080&quality=55

Kinda hard to read your ramblings but sounds like you are not happy with the offseason moves....

couple of suggestions- 1st go read the thead Hawkeye put out on the defensive rebuild we are undertaking

2nd- stop worrying about what hasnt been done and look at what has been done - this teams defense was abysmal last year and they are cycling out the core...long way to go but they have already made a lot of great and smart moves

3rd -use paragraph breaks...its helps with readability :)

4- Never listen to BlueBlood, he's a bad inspiration for this moment!!! :muttley:

5- Let's see how things work, at least it seems that we have a plan, and things are looking different in past years. Just because you go out and spend a lot of money, doesn't always equate to winning the big game, you just were the highest bidder and you won the grand prized free agent!!

Follow your own self righteous advice only apply it to his opinion.

Hahaha ok dude - all of my points are very valid and nothing "self righteousness" in there... take your crap elsewhere

Your points are valid?

Ok. Ill bite.

What position group has been upgraded? By player acquisitions. As of todays date and time.
Is this a trick question? We're better at safety and edge.

That doesn't mean we've done enough. We have a long ways to go. Im just unclear why we need to crap on the actual good moves which have been made.

The safety room is better for sure. The Edge room needs work but we have to remember that in 3-4 it will be a one of five situation vs. one of four. So you are effectively always blitzing. They will be stout up front with Clark, Williams and Ogbonnia (he looks good on tape). The extra guy has to be accounted for. Definitely need a cornerback (or two). Definitely need ILB #1 (or two). Definitely need another Edge guy. Can't do this all in one year, which makes all the crazy trade talk about Crosby pretty silly.

I do think that they will be a better defense on paper than they were in 2025 once everything comes in.

Yup, the crapping is befuddling- and I think its either because people have unrealistic expectations of a single season swap of nearly all crappy defense players for probowlers

Or

Because they are so jaded from the last 30 years that its hard to break the cycle

Bust the Budget
We’ve busted the budget for sure. May not like who they signed but yesterday, before Osa trade we were over the cap. Getting Pickens signed quickly woukd solve a lot of issues

We are better at edge? We replaced Clowney with Gary. Thats a wash.

Safety which wasnt our worst group last season is improved for sure. Fantastic.

DL has stayed the same and is the strength of the team, at least until Clark and Williams are rotated out.

So. Tell me again. What is improved other than safety? We have the worst CB and LB room in the NFL currently.

Its both.

There is a reason to crap on this off-season. You may not want to hear it but the fact they plan on going into the draft with the LB and CB rooms the way they are is what is befuddling.

Here is the Cowboys issue in a nutshell. They don't like bidding wars in FA and use trades to avoid them at all costs. But free agency is where you go for need so you don't have to in the draft. You want the best player in the draft. Why don't they understand this? Am I wrong here?

I don't pretend to know everything. I don't care if someone tells me where I am going wrong. I play a sim football game and that's what I do. Get the players I need in FA and draft BPA. I don't want to pass up on a good player in the draft because I need help at a position elsewhere.

Our safety group was absolutely terrible last season and the upgrades should be fairly substantial.

As far as edge, you're probably right. Gary is very similar to Clowney. Im going to consider him an upgrade based on his age, the fact we will have him a couple seasons minimum and he is willing to do off season work.

Understandably thats all fairly negligible. It matters going forward but as of now it doesnt appear drastically different. Gary was still a great move imo. My hope is we still bring Clowney back. The fact is he doesn't want to sign anywhere now, so we'll have to wait until towards the end of camp.

As far as CB goes I haven't lost all faith in them. It was a bad scheme and we had injuries. Im eager to see the difference with Parker. I also believe we need to go get a CB at 12 or 20.

We are in agreement they have a ton or work still to do. While I think we're better with who we added and coaching im still concerned it isnt enough.

This team is now worse and weaker than before FA. Only a clown show of an organization can do that. NFL has ranked Dallas biggest losers in FA.

But here you are talking and posting about him. Is that not paying attention as well?
Don't mean to speak on somebody's behalf, but below is an AI definition of to pay attention. I don't think this is the case for most of us, just those who want to believe what they hear: It's what Jerry wants...

Paying attention to someone means focusing your mental, emotional, or physical energy on them by listening actively, observing carefully, and showing interest. It involves being mindful of their words and actions, demonstrating care, and, in relationships, providing quality, undistracted time to make them feel heard and valued.

No. I'm aware of his comments, not vested in them. I'm not outraged because I don't give any credence to a con man.

With any con-man or magician you can't be fooled by the glib words and slight of hand, you have to watch their actions closely.
