Cowboys have called to inquire about LB Brooks

I think we can do something to get him, if he is indeed what JP is looking for. I'm not so sure he is though. But if he is a fit Miami is in complete rebuild mode and we should be able to put something together for him. We could even save our picks and offer up some players that could help them. Names like Mingo, Bass, Bell, Spoon etc..are names that could work.
Supposedly he does not want to wear the green dot. At least thats what they were saying on DLLS Cowboys podcast.

He didn't wear it last year either. Some players apparently just arent as comfortable having to worry about getting everyone else lined up and in the right spot. I can understand just wanting to focus on your own assignments.

Thats another reason why I think the team may lean heavily towards drafting CJ Allen. Despite his awkward pro-day videos hes supposedly elite at calling the defense and processing.

I think if Osa was worth a third the Dolphins should be able to get a 3rd and a 5th etc, or even a second doesn't seem unreasonable to me. But its one thing to determine value and another to look at the LB depth in the draft and decide you don't need to spend a second.
Good point. Osa was also locked up tbough. A 3rd and a 5 is fair. What did they get for Phillips at the deadline? I’d imagine similar compensation.

Seems like there are some concerns with CJ's knee.

Calling cost nothing.
Dolphins probably want too much. And Jerry is not biting.

A 5th rounder would be great, as he is in the last year of his contract.
And we have 3 of them so trading one away is great for a 1 year rental in Brooks.

Jerry says, take the 5th as shark bait. And it is tough to give up a 5th….oh wait, a 5th of JWB.
Lol you aren't getting a 28 year old 1st Team All Pro for a 5th

Must be hard work by Stevie, picking up his cell phone and calling aikman lol. He probably did call . At this point we dunno the context of the alleged call. Can't rule out anything.

And what is wrong about giving an opinion of some trade rather one fan feels it is realistic or not.

It is no different than one fan saying they couldn’t even get a 4th round for Pickens.
Saying we couldn't get a 4th for Pickens is completely moronic though. Whoever said that looked like a complete idiot

First team all pro, former first rounder in the middle of his prime.

A fifth is just ridiculous.

His market is a third, minimum.
I think that 3rd round pick is exactly what they’re haggling over.

It may take a 3rd this year and an additional pick in 2027. I think that’s what Miami is hoping for.

The Cowboys could have signed several linebackers in free agency. Instead, they sat on their hands and did absolutely nothing. Now that the top linebackers are off the market, they are left scrambling to fill the void. Another year in which Jerry and Stephen lied to us about busting the budget; another year of absolute incompetence from this front office.
There only free agent at this guys level was Devin Lloyd and he signed for 3 yrs, 42m

I wouldn't take less than a first I don't get it I know the waddle situation is supposed to be different it's not that different it still shows value all the trades for receivers of that caliber included a first..

It's not in the Cowboys best interest to take anything less... And in my opinion it needs to be a high first top 15 if not it's a low first and I'm gonna need something else..

I get it's going to cost a team to trade for him a lot of money but it only takes one I mean Green Bay was stupid enough to give up a lot to get Parsons pay Parsons a ridiculous amount of money and then him get hurt and not even help them last year when he when they needed him....

But yes it happens but it's also a risk but if I'm the Cowboys I'm not taking anything less.... That is stupid I don't know where a 4th rounder would even come into play i've heard a two everyone keeps saying his value is a 2nd round That would make it easier to trade him but that's not his worth his worth is at least one first..

Wait until after the draft to trade for him. I think a 2027 3rd round pick would be fair for both teams. Brooks is 29 years old and on the last year of his deal. Brooks is a good player but he is a middle linebacker so his position value is low.

While I agree its not all too far off based on some trades we have seen in thr past...Amari Cooper was a 2x probowler with nearly 30 tds over his time in Dallas and they traded him to the browns for a 5th.

I think the fact there is no contract in place and that he doesnt want to be the defensive captian is hurting his potential trade value.

5th probably not but maybe a 3rd or something where we swap 1sts and a mid round pick

This is a lost season for Miami. They’ll load as much dead money as they can and clear the books

That’s one reason why they didn’t just extend Brooks which a serious team would have done.

On a contender he probably gets his contract worked out
Yep.

They reworked two other contracts but intentionally left Brooks’ alone. They’re motivated to move him for draft picks. By the time their rebuilding team is competitive again, Brooks will be past his prime.

It's been my occasion to read that Brooks is good vs. the run but not as good vs. the pass. H-m-m.
Right, but the goofs think they know it all. So vent not only against the team, but gang up on posters who are more correct than they are.

LOL, I don't think that was his point.

I think his point was thinking the Dolphins would trade us Brooks for a 5th rounder was hilariously crazy talk.
It still does not make them right. We got Gary for a 4th. Gave away Cooper for a 5th.
These are the same people that thought getting 2 - 1st and a former 1st round pick for Micah was not possible.

If a team is in rebuild like miami, only offer future picks, they can wait easier than most teams.

Fans are going to overrate Brooks value without factoring in age and contract status. 29 year old off ball LB’s in a contract year are never going to have high value. I’d be pretty surprised if another team is willing to offer a top 90 pick straight up for Brooks
29 years old LB big pass!! Data can be provided for Stephen Jones that shows the decline in linebackers after age 29, so no thanks!! Maxx Crosby is about to be 29 also, not sure why all the Cowboys fans want a bunch of super old guys to help out a defense that got torched!

Draft young players on defense, pretty simple!
