Who is one player you were dead wrong about in recent years?

I think the one player I can remember is is the pet Cat People pick and was believing that if Deuce Vaughn was used correctly after watching him in college do what he did in the Big 12 and I seen him do it again it's a really good teams like Texas and Oklahoma,

How is it that he couldn't have been utilized as a 3rd down scat back I just think that he could have and I may still think he could have if he's in the right place in the right offense who gives him a chance and actually builds packages for him I really thought he can make a name for himself..

I guess the jury's still out because maybe he'll land somewhere and maybe he'll have a resurrection of his career..

I mean the man was not a gadget player in college he was a real running back even at his size he was utilized like a regular running back but here didn't seem like he can ever get enough snaps to prove he should get more snaps..

I mean if it were me I would have been using him on special teams but that was a problem around here terpen already has that Position turpin is also our gadget player on offense,

There wasn't room for him here but I think he can still be that guy if someone really gave him a chance..
You missed the thread title. Which player were YOU wrong about?

Just said I defended Deuce Vaughn I really thought he could be better and apparently I was wrong at this point unless he finds a way to prove it otherwise..

Exactly, how did I do that wrong, I did list the player...

Ah, sorry, there was so much spew around it that I missed it.

Did you realize you were wrong on the Purdy thing?

Just reread your post. You were not even close to admitting you were wrong about him. That comprehension thingie still giving you problems, hey?

No your opinion is that I'm wrong and my opinion is that I'm right.. Anything else I can help you with on the Internet having varying opinions and just 'cause you think you're right doesn't make you right,,,hmmm

Liked the Ceedee pick but didn’t think he could survive being forced into a #1 role once Jerry gave Amari away in one of the dumbest trades of all time. Thought he was too small.

Me too. And to think had we not traded up, we could’ve had Fletcher Cox
They would have taken Brockers, and Wagner in the second. That’s been revealed.

Imagine if that deal didn’t happen. Defense would have been a lot better in the Romo years, and Wagner would still be here as an all time great Cowboy on his way to the HOF.

They just have a knack for making the wrong decision.

Mo Claiborne - I thought he was going to be stud
I felt the same way.

In your defense and mine, most of the NFL felt that way. Don't know what happened with him because his college tape and combine results suggested he was going to be the next Patrick Peterson at the least.

You do realize he was the number 47 pick? Every single team passed on him at least once and many at least twice. So how is it that only the cowboys made the wrong decision?
I meant the plan of trading up for Claiborne as opposed to staying put. Clearly the wrong call regardless. The wrong call by the front office consistently costs them games on the field. Not sure if that’s even a debate.

They do make a lot of wrong calls. But the draft is like hitting in baseball. Batting and hitting on draft picks less than 50% of the time is the norm. The cowboys have drafted well at times and not so well at times, just like every other team in the league. Some do it better than others but it can’t be sustained. Look at, I think his name was Mike Wolfe from the packers. He was good at drafting for a few years then couldn’t get anything right. Howie from the eagles will face the same fate.

Fully agree, but they operate otherwise as if they draft much better than they actually do.

Entire league makes those mistakes or worse san Francisco traded up an extra two firsts that means they use 3 first round picks on trade lands do I need a better example of that It happens all the time Somebody took a bunch of quarterbacks in the top 10 over the last couple of decades and they were all busts..

But I'd say that San Francisco that's probably the worst trade I've ever seen they traded up for that guy Who else was taking them they outbid themselves I mean II don't remember that draft but there's no way they could have thought Oh my God if we don't give away 3 first for him we might lose him..

Other teams make mistakes in the draft And no Claiborne was not a mistake it just didn't turn out well that man was an absolute dog in college He was a great that when he got to the NFL injuries Hanford him far too often and he lost his confidence..

It was not a bad move when it most people realize how good he was and yes there's always a risk and they took the risk and lost But you act like they're the only front office on the planet that does this i've seen far worse drafts or moves at least with MO Claiborne the man was one a dog in college coming from a college full of those types of corners so they went after one..

YES You want the bad mistakes that was Mazi and Taco you can't take guys like him in the first round you can't draft for position and reach that far they were never supposed to be first round picks.. Those I'll give but not this one..

Let's see, first ask how many 4th round or later QBs are starting QBs. Here's couple, Brady, Staubach, Unitas, Brock Purdy. Hold it, you said active, sorry. Looks like it's Purdy.

So, I've done what you asked, now it's your turn. Name the active 4th round or later QBs who are starting.
Purdy is a good QB, but his backups have filled in nicely for him. And I’m sure you’d agree that the 49ers have been a better team and organization than us.

Cousins, Sanders (Browns) and Purdy are the only ones that come to mind. The first 2 aren’t exactly players we’d prefer, I’m guessing.

I don’t disagree, but the bottom line was that it was the wrong call….yet again.

Yes, everyone makes draft mistakes, but they also don’t ignore free agency (all respect to our shiny new safety) because you’ve overrated the impact your draft selections can possibly make.

Two most notable I can recall are:

Kenyon Green: I thought he would be a walk in Pro Bowler.

Kaiir Elam: I thought he would be a versitile #1 CB. He turned to be pretty versitile in that was pretty bad at everything

couple of Lsu LBs i was excited we got...jabril cox and damone clark.
love'd 'em in college.
but just didn't pan out like i thought they would.

texas ol connor williams.
loved that pick at the time.
he was ok...good not great...and not pro bowl caliber which was what i thought he'd play into.

Of course, but still missing the point. Question was 4th round or later QBs currently in the NFL w/ a better record than Dak.

It was a silly topic anyway. As you're pointing out, a lot more goes into the record than the QB.

Weird. Pointing out others' draft gaffes has nothing to do w/ ours.
