I think this is where Schott hiring comes in when you have to figure out ways to get Blue off the bench and being the relief back , change of pace speed merchant . He had 134 carries for Texas senior season in 15 games over 5 YPC and 6 TD’s.

Williams the hammer obviously the feature back pounding the trenches then Blue comes in maybe line him up in the slot or some pitches out going wide let him use his vision to get to a hole .

This is why an offensive person was hired as HC now you have this weapon to be used . And obviously if Blue wants a second contract for bigger $$ in the league he’s got to get it together .

This will be Schotty's 2nd year with Blue along withthe RB coaches.

If he doesn't see more significant time, then we can infer that his time with the team will be short. On this team RB should be an easy one to get on the field unless you have serious deficiencies.

I can't see much more tolerance for Blue if doesn't get his crap together.

Glad more are recognizing that the player actually has a responsibility to do the right things to earn the right to play. You don't just put players out there who aren't trustworthy just because they have a great 40.

While I sort of agree we can’t just ignore that we have the exact same situation in 2026 as we had in 2025….except the cowboys have a clear RB1 going into camp in Williams this year.

Blue had an excellent opportunity to be the #2 guy and get touches last year but this coaching staff didn’t put much faith in him.

If we see something in camp/preseason to get the hype train going I’ll be the first on it, but for right now the conversation is probably more about what the coaching staff needs to see from the player to get blue on the field instead of how they do it.

With just 11 snaps on special teams last year I think it’s possible Blue is a cut candidate if he doesn’t take the RB2 role.

I'm impressed with the knowledge and insight some of you guys have. If only Schotty or Jerry saw whatbyou see, we'd just cut him today and save the time.....why bother to coach him up, physically and mentally and see if he can come to camp, and see if riding the bench humbled him and flipped the switch, don't waste our time to see if an off season may have helped him mature physically, many men at 21 years old are still growing, the extra year of physical maturity, could give him more confidence when it comes to taking the hits and punishment that comes with being a RB....why bother...just cut all the players that under achieved. Super Bowl!!!!

I would agree . He’s really the only speed merchant on this team at RB . Malik Davis Phil Mafah are duplicates of Williams hammers .

The opportunity is looking right at Blue. I saw him catch TD passes in college line him up in the slot a LB cannot cover him a safety or corner will have to compensate for the speed .

He made the Giants look bad he had about 70 yards at half with a TD , the Giants were trying to win the game Mike Kafka job on the line , got fired anyway .

Unless Dallas drafts a speed back with all these 5’s they collected they have to see what Blue has . Look at Schoon . Drafted much higher then Blue hasn’t cracked the code still on the roster .

Williams reportedly took Blue under his wing and is showing him how to be a pro.

This guy will never be counted on or trusted. Too small with fumble issues and the brain is lacking.
Sticking with he never like anything mantra

A person that knows.

What a stark difference. I will go with the person that knows.

It’s a make or break year for Blue.

Going back to his days at Texas he has always had fumble issues and was awful protecting the QB. His speed and quickness have always been his calling card, but if he can’t improve his reliability, he won’t be in the league much longer, much less with the Cowboys.

Training camp and pre-season games are his opportunity to flip this script. He’s going to have to show some major improvement if he wants a real NFL career.

Blue is one player I want to watch in TC and the PS games. Yes we can learn a lot form PS games.

He has had a year to mature as a football player and as a person as all do coming out of college.
He has competition for RB 2. Davis and Mafah. And a few rookies even. For if the do not draft a RB, they will bring in 1 or 2 UDFA's.

He has the speed and talent. I I think his fumbling issues are overblown. As fans lock on to 1 issue and rant about it for years. And that can be corrected. (see Tiki Barber)

Agreed and that’s all great, but the issue is the OP starts the thread saying that you have to get blue touches off the bench just because he’s fast.

Other than the opening sentence I think it’s a fair post, but people are naturally going to overreact the other direction whenever a player who disappointed his rookie year is being overhyped in April of his sophomore campaign.

Let’s see what Blue can do in August and go from there. Hes certainly a high ceiling player you want to root for, but there are obviously concerns the coaching staff has. I wouldn’t spend too much time designing my offense for blue until he shows he can take that step forward in 2026.

Well said.

We all hope Blue is much improved. But think about this - he was on a Cowboys team desperate for production at RB last year. Apart from Javonte Williams, we didn’t have much. When Miles Sanders went down with an injury, he had his chance. And the coaches were so unsure of his abilities to grasp the playbook, he was barely used.

Let’s see what he can do with an off-season and TC to improve. The ball is in his court. The team and fans want to see him succeed. But speed alone isn’t enough in this league. He has to show improvement.

Schoon was 30 years old when they drafted him and was a stupid pick. He was past his prime when he left college.

Blue has a lot to prove before anyone can really say he has earned more touches. I do not have faith he will earn a bigger role. I'd be happy if he proves me wrong.
