Stephen: We will not have contract talks with Pickens

This team should be all in chips on the table. This roster is designed (on paper) to win in the next two years or so. This half in half out bs is so annoying

Because Pickens is almost guaranteed to sit out until games start. The media frenzy during camp will be nothing but drama.
aint no drama from the front office. They are stating right now, IN APRIL that the Franchise Tag is the way it is going to be this year. No drama involved. They arent the first team to make a player play under the tag, and they wont be the last.

Well, guess WR to Dallas is a real possibility at 12 depending on how the draft falls.

Just mind boggling we may keep a WR at a 28mil cap hit and then possibly let him go the following year. That cap space would of been so valuable had we not had dimwit JR at the helm.

really? Half the people in here are saying we shouldnt sign pickens and we should trade him. I prefer a long term deal, but I like the fact there is no ambiguity in that statement.

It is now that simple. You sign the tag, or you sit out. How is that drama?
You said yesterday "HE WILL BE SIGNED".

This doesnt seem that way at all.

If this is true. Trading a 3rd for him was even more dumb then I originally thought.

Why on earth would GL find a team willing to give him a massive extensions finally achieving financial freedom for his entire family for generations to come and then at no.

Makes no sense at all’s.
I never said GP found the team. The same thing I suggested happened with Clowney trade and the Texans. He ended up getting traded to Seattle, the team he wanted to play for.

Plus, GP is still going to want his money. Just because he found a team willing to talk doesn’t mean’t mean they settled on the money. We see deals get fairly close to the finish line all the time, only to stall.

This was their intention from the start. They were never going to sign GP to a long term contract this offseason.

Whether they trade him tomorrow or after the draft who knows? Whether they select Jordyn Tyson tomorrow...who knows? Archer may know something.

Strange for them to come out and admit it this soon.

Either Pickens is asking for too much or they finally accepted it would be cheaper and smarter for them to pay him on franchise tag this year than sign him to a new contract.

Of course it is also possible Pickens' side decided they can make more money long term if they wait until 2027 for a new contract with the Cowboys or another team.
