I agree with the decision to make GP play on the tag and not negotiate. His 2025 performance was solid but many think he can't repeat it. So, this tag gives him an opportunity to prove he deserves a WR1 contract. But honestly, I would tag him again next year as well, even if he does have a solid season.

Stephen Jones just informed the entire NFL that they will be looking for a WR in this year's draft.

Pickens will hold out. It is a distraction that will affect the team, particularly in that tone-setting first month.

Jerry destroyed the defense, now Stephen has sabotaged the offense.

I'm not against trading Pickens, just stop playing games. They said they planned on having Pickens on this team for a long time. I'm sure this goodwill gesture of informing the world that that they don't plan to pay Pickens his value could do nothing but inspire.

That's the whole point, they cant trade him without Pickens signing the Tag. Pickens isnt signing the Tag, as at that point he loses leverage.

Jerry's playing on the fact that Mulugheta hates his players playing on a Tag, he can do it again next year and if Pickens holdsout he loses both money and it enhances (the unfair optic) that Pickens is trouble.

Sure, it is for one year coz most players/agents accepts it as part of neg or determining players value. But a 2nd tag, not so much........of course teams can use it but its rare player end up playing on it ( 2nd time). In fact, Cousins is the last player I can think of to play on a 2nd tag......

It depends on the situation. The Cousins situation is totally different from this. The Cowboys would save a ton of money tagging Pickens twice. Real dollars, but bad for the cap.

Lamb got 100M guaranteed. Tagging Pickens twice is 60M guaranteed. Now let us say Pickens agent is asking for more than Lamb money. Maybe 40M per year. Now you have to tag him again. It just makes sense.
