I just read an article saying we tried to trade back again at 23 but couldn’t find any suitors. Jane said 4 teams wanted Lawrence with SF being the biggest suitors.

Might as well pair two of the fourth round picks and move back up into the third and double down on linebackers .

No problem with that since no 2nd and still have a 4th round pick also.

I've heard the opposite. The Cowboys said they were ready to pick Lawrence at 20. But they made a calculated gamble he would be there a few picks later and decided to do the trade with Philly for the extra 4ths.

I know it's easy for them to say this after the fact, but Dallas was connected to Lawrence ever since the combine.

Calling it now......there is going to be a ton of trades.....Teams drafting BPA.....And the boards for teams are all over the place this year. Come end of the 3rd and 4th round....We are gonna crap ourselves because who's still on the board.....in a good way. My dark horse, reminds me of Zach Thomas or Dat Nguyen. Great leader too. We need leaders like him and Caleb Downs on this defense.

Yeah, it would have been nice to have been able to trade down into the later 20s or even the 30s and still get Lawrence. But it appears that we wouldn't have been able to do that.

I think both are true. If we had not been offered a small trade-down, we would have taken him at 20. At 23, we looked into whether we could trade down again and get him and decided against it. Clearly, they had targeted this player, much like they did Tyler Smith and Mazi Smith because there was a lot of speculation about us taking him before we did.
