What is the actual plan at LB?

Hes not THE answer but he is certainly part of it - there was no single player that was going to fix our LB situation yesterday but we got 2 that make it a whole lot better
They could've paid 2-3 mil more for Devin Lloyd and they wouldn't be pressing like they are now.

I dont know that they are pressing as much as they addressed other positions prior.

This defense is going to be so much better and they arent done yet

It's a low bar, but Dee Winters is better than anyone the Cowboys sent out there at LB last season.

Assuming the two inside starters are now Winters and Overshown, Shamar James has time to develop and Justin Barron is the special teams guy. I wouldn't mind them drafting someone else today and adding another veteran (Okereke?).

Also don't forget the Cowboys see Jaishawn Barham as both an inside and outside LB.

Seems they had a lb or 2 they would have considered drafting but things didn't go that way so they pulled the trade with SF. We know they had trade contingencies and called after day 1 to do due diligence about brooks being available.

Yeah I agree, I just feel like they let one position handicap them during the season because they didn't properly address it. Overshown can't stay healthy, Barham is a rookie that'll move around with a learning curve, Dee Winters doesn't move the needle for me at all, etc.

It doesn't seem coincidental that the Winters trade occurred literally moments after Miami drafted Jake Rodriguez. I think he was the last LB the Cowboys felt could help them so they went ahead and got a vet.

All fair points but dee will be much better than Murray and im sure they are not done yet.

Unfortunately they had so many holes it was going to take 2 offseasons to fix.

Good news is they should be a 15-20 type of defense this year and with the offense they have that might be good enough for 9 to 10 wins.

The plan seems to be simple. Draft or add good players via other means, to the position and let the competition shake out the pecking order.

I expect them to extend him. He's a boilerplate average LB. Far better than what we had just by being league average.
He is a small-town Texas kid who stayed in state for college and gets to come back home.
He is not a guy you gotta pay a lot to and frankly we don't have a lot of LB to extend or even keep on the roster long-term.
I like guys that had to fight to get on the field. When you are a late rnd pick it’s a fight. These guys are key to a roster. Most late rnd picks never amount to much but if a 6th rnd pick can be an avg player in the nfl, that’s a huge win. We have to hit on more of our late picks. Not necessarily super stars but good, solid players

Rodriguez?

Dude you ok? You thought he was falling to the third? Allen to? Come on my friend.
Did I say that? I just mentioned a few good ones. They seemed to do OK and can still bring in another linebacker.

I am a Big 12 guy and Winter is not a bad player at all. He can really move and is physically strong he's just short but that hasn't held back LBs in the past.

A solid 3rd LB for any team in football.
A top 3 of Winter, Overshown and Barham is light years better than last year if still below league average.

I'd still have my eye on Jordyn Brooks if the Dolphins want to post June trade him. He'd be your lead MLB.

If the cowboys thought Rodriguez was dropping to their third round pick, we have bigger issues than I thought lol.
