Jerry: Overton replaces Osa

Gonna see a lot of 4-2-5, which is why we needed top CB in the draft.

3-4 good vs run, which is the old eagle.

But few of our LBs can cover slot. Most are too slow.
They said themselves that they aren’t too hooked on bringing more corners in because they plan to use a lot of S/nickel interchangeability.

I think we’re going to see a lot of everything to be honest haha. But they will need another 5t with only Big O being able to play that naturally at the moment.

I think we know what Overton can do & it will be shocking if he can’t do what Dallas will ask of him simply because he did it in college at Alabama.

I don’t see him struggling to be a big strong run defender that clogs his gap.

This is where I like taking 3/4 defensive ends. Round 3 & down.
100%

Did you come up with this or did you read it in "The Osa/Overtone Situation For Dummies"

All Jokes aside thanks for the breakdown
Hahahaha just grabbed it from press conference and draft nuggets as well as his size and what he did in college. 287 at his pro day and did some of this 5t stuff at Alabama.

There’s so much noise from so many places during the draft can be hard to sift through it and know what is real and what’s not. Happy to help when I can!

He looks like the prototypical 5t in his build, trash can full of dirt. Also in his play, He is heavy handed and relentless. All he has to do is occupy space and beat up the man in front of him and if a team mate steps in to help, then beat him up as well. I think he can handle that

Then let him walk as opposed to extending him. Let him sign a bigger contract with Washington or whomever and not worry about it. Tie up their cap money.

And be a DT in the NFL and you could be “so screwed over in life”.
Ya and give up a third round pick. I’m sure you would have complained if we let him walk.

Wow no I didn’t realize that. Thought they threatened him into submission.

Last thing I am saying on this subject:
He chose to sign because he wanted to be in Dallas even though a better offer may have been available. Dallas said they WANTED him in Dallas. Then had buyer’s remorse and moved him to SF AFTER pitching the whole tax thing. To me that is a crap thing to do. No one needs to agree with me.
Maybe he should have lived up to the contact he signed.

Jerry won't tell the truth about Osa. The Cowboys wanted a 3rd round pick more than they wanted him. His schtick about "not being able to afford" Osa is bull because the Cowboys actually took a cap hit by trading him.
They saved $6 mil this year, I believe and a heck of a whole lot more next year. Who cares what Jerry says anyways.

Definitely seems what they were going for. I do think viewed as a 4-3 DE he doesn't have as much value as his potential as a 3-4 DE. He just has a lot to prove in that role and may need some sand in his pants before he can.
They were talking about this on the ticket after he was drafted.
And the strategy of trading away Osa.

That trade was to get back a day 2 pick in case they weren’t able to move down to get one. And as we know, a salary cap du,p, though they did not say that part.

They said if Overton could add a little bit of weight, he could move inside, and take over what Osa could do.

Yup, one thing about the defensive players in this draft is it seems like there’s a clear plan for all of them which is nice.

So I reply to someone who mentioned Dak but I’m the one you chose to say this to? I don’t know if you guys are dense or just afraid of certain posters on this site or what.
No idea. I see the ridiculous Dakspew in every thread and call it ouit. Sorry you were in 2nd place!!!!!! Guess you were just too dense to realize it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it may be wishful thinking since Overton was taken a round after Osa for a reason, but I like Overton much more in that role than as an OLB or 4-3 DE.

Yeah, I think the trade was done because they saw greater value in getting the third-rounder than in what Odighizua provided in this scheme.
