Jerry: Overton replaces Osa

Osa’s 3.5 sacks will be hard to replace.
We would need one and a half Quennin’s. He only had 2.5 sacks!

Thst means Osa was actually worth at least a first, two seconds and a third!

We got ripped off!

You do realize that he had choice in this, yes? He chose to sign the contract. He's getting paid to the terms of what he signed. He's in no way getting screwed.
Wow no I didn’t realize that. Thought they threatened him into submission.

Last thing I am saying on this subject:
He chose to sign because he wanted to be in Dallas even though a better offer may have been available. Dallas said they WANTED him in Dallas. Then had buyer’s remorse and moved him to SF AFTER pitching the whole tax thing. To me that is a crap thing to do. No one needs to agree with me.

A leader that people will follow.
Well if we use the historical reference in stories this is the mercenary who offer to lure rats away from a medieval town only to get into a disagreement with the town folks who refuse to pay him for his services. So he lures the town children away making them disappear.

Euphemistically he is the harbinger of death and the stories were told as a way to explain away the deaths of young children which was common in medieval society due to a variety of reasons - typically health.

My favourite class in my history degree. We studied numerous classical stories and discussed the social origins of the stories and how they fit into society.

Let's hope Downs is not a harbinger of death for the Cowboys.

My definition is a Jerry translation of what he meant when he said that.

Overton will be the 5t in the 3-4. Osa could play that, but he’s a true 4-3 3T. You don’t ideally want to pay good money to a natural 4-3 3T then make him a 3-4 end with less upfield responsibilities.

Jerry is really oversimplifying it but Overton has the chops to be a true 5t so in theory he’s a better fit for the scheme. But who knows if he’ll actually pan out to being better. On paper it’s the ideal positional match though.
Did you come up with this or did you read it in "The Osa/Overtone Situation For Dummies"

All Jokes aside thanks for the breakdown

Peop
No idea what Jerry was thinking using this as a reference. Maybe he had too much JWB after the draft

People over 80 know what he meant

For real ..call me dumb, but what's a 'pied piper'?
AI Overview
The Pied Piper is generally considered a bad or morally ambiguous figure. While he acts as a hero by ridding the town of Hamelin of rats, he becomes a villain by kidnapping the town's children as revenge after the town officials refuse to pay him for his services.

Yeah I don’t think that is a good comparison.
To Jerry Dak is this great leader of men and Jerry is very much enamored with Him on this account. It is the reason Jerry keeps on dishing out large amounts of money to him

All that Locker Room Hero stuff. . . Jerry came up with that from the very beginning in his rookie year. All the success the Cowboys had were attributed to the Leadership Aura that surrounded Dak and thus was the reasoning for not switching back to Romo (also Romo was gonna die if he ever played again or so I heard)

You are correct the Comparison is terrible because Caleb is actually a leader and field general while the other merely plays one on TV

Feel how you want about Dak but that leader moniker came long before Jerry. That’s been following Dak since he was in high school on his scouting reports. I’ve heard that about Caleb as well.

Yeah that major in Public Relations really helped to polish the Mystique. Dak is an Emperor with no clothes a paper dragon. The fear I have seen in his eyes in the biggest moments speak for itself.

Dak can mimic or portray what a leader is but he is not one. Jerry should know that by now
