I'm excited about this season

"For the first time in nearly 3 years, I can say that I'm excited about this season. I'm excited about the Dallas Cowboys 2026 season."

Wish I could feel the same way.

But Jerry has ruined any chance for that. Maybe one day. I would sure hope so.

It's always a pleasure for me to see a knowledgeable fan like yourself having a pleasant outlook about the upcoming season. My main concern that hinders my optimistic view is the considerable number of changes that are likely to be implemented in the defense and that staff to accompany them.

Of course, that's always a factor with each and every new season to come along with this team. Here's hoping they'll get off to a successful introduction into this defense that we're all pulling for to succeed. The 2026 version of our re-established defense will be exciting to behold, nevertheless. I'm excited.

I do think there will probably be a rough start on defence, so I think patience should be afforded, especially early. But, once the team gels, I think it feels like 2021 to an extent. It feels like the kind of season where not much is known about our defence, and it did take a couple games to get in gear, as I recall. But I think this team is highly capable of exceding a lot of expectations and making this a fun season.

I know Jerry has made a lot of mistakes and all. What you're saying is certainly valid.

However, to me, I think this might be his best offseason in a while. It seems that there was a plan, and I think the draft moves were brilliant this year. But, I certainly get the concerns about Jerry.

Many folks go negative to protect their fragile state of mind. They like that option better than being optimistic and then being let down.
Goes both ways. Many promote positivity only because looking at the warts others point out undermines their hope and could actually (shudder) make those people "right" about the situation with license to ridicule the hope. So if you're talking fear of consequences, yeah there's tons of that to go around and some will "attack" when they see the opposite to try to beat back that fear. What's funny is either side only shows up when things are going their way and disappears when it's not. One of the more entertaining things on this board.

It’s more about providing a more accurate analysis detaching emotions attached which can be difficult for some fans.

Fur sure, and there are certainly a lot of factors in play. I suppose for me, it's nice to finally have hope entering the season. For me, it's more fun this way. I think 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 were obviously going to be trouble seasons. So, for me, it was not as fun knowing that we were going to likely be bad. Now, this season, has sort of a 2021 feel where people can have various feelings entering the season, but it at least feels fun entering the season, if that makes sense.

We all can take different approaches to our outlooks for the season. There’s not one fail safe road for all fans . And no right or wrong way. We all conduct our fandom differently

It’s entirely possible this season could exceed expectations. I just prefer to let those emotions develop and crescent as the season progresses. And hopefully culminate in reaching our goals .

Most definitely, and that's kinda why I'm referencing the 2021 offseason, if that makes sense.

Downs and the new coaches should get you excited.

That's fair, but yeah, at least, if nothing else, the playoffs are at least well within reach for us now, which wasn't the case the last two years.
In 2024 I think the playoffs were in reach until Dak goes down. And would have been last year with a closer to average defense .

I’d argue trading Parsons derailed the defense and most likely the possibility for playoffs. One more win like over Green Bay and then the finale against NYG ( which we didn’t try to win)could have got us in playoffs.

I agree about Parsons. However, for 2024, I think what set me off negatively was the Derrick Henry business and the "all in" rubbish Jerry peddled. So, to me, I wasn't confident at all about 24. I agree that trading Parsons derailed our defence last year, but our offense kept us alive. So, if our offense and Aubrey can do that again this year, I have to think our team will advance further just because our defence should be better.

Same here, and he is physical, which I like. So, between Clark and Williams, we should be dangerous. Also, I forgot about Ogbonnia. I think he's going to be an unsung FA signing we got. Could you imagine if we have Clark, Williams, and Ogbonnia up front at the same time? Parker certainly has a lot of options.
Yeah I forget we even have Ogbonnia. So is he backup to Clark?
