Yep, this team is a clown show.
It’s entertaining, but not serious about winning.
If they were, they would get a professional GM and a top notch HC.
So until then, I will watch, but with zero expectations.

yes and many fans dont see it or dont like him so dont want to admit it.
I think he is changing all sorts of things , including the jones boys .
He ran the search for a DC and picked Parker, then jones boys hired Parker.
This was something I never thought I would see ,with jones boys.

Shotty and parker kinda ran the draft too, and look how that turned out.
Jones boy are getting the credit in media, and that is ok, they will like that.

The part that REALLY baffles me, is how EVERY year these grandiose predictions of glory are presented as something completely new....as if the exact same predictions weren't made the year before, and the year before, on and on for decades....each year with the ting that "something feels different THIS year"... only to repeat it, over and over.

It's fine to predict SB contention in May 30 years in a row,.... but it's the portrayal of "newness" that is insulting. It would be more genuine to just be honest and say "every year for 30 years we've genuinely felt in May that we were SuperBowl contenders, and once again I feel it again"

That would be honest. Gullible....but honest. But this "THIS YEAR FEELS DIFFERENT SO IM FINALLY BREAKING TRADITION AND PREDICTING WE'RE GOING TO CONTEND THIS YEAR" is just is so disingenuous. Just be honest and say "I've been doing this for 30 years, so why not make it 31...and then 32...and then 33, etc" And of course it will all change in December, with the calls for Jerry to step down, and to tank, etc etc.. .and we'll be back reading the same SB contention posts again next May. It's the inevitability of it all which is the sickening thing.

Well this is all I am hoping for, I like to see dallas in playoffs and play at least one game !
Dallas team has now changed so much from last year, with new young smart DC to top safety in the draft,
basically whole new defense.
Phil and other div teams are going to have to see our new defense and then try to figure out how to play it.
That gives dallas the edge in games with div opponents or any team we have played frequently past couple of years.

I agree, and I think the moves this offseason have been smart. I appreciate the effort this offseason. And to your point, I agree that our division rivals are going to have to see our defence to see how to counter it. And honestly, I think our front 7 and safeties are going to be good.

I made it very clear that I wasn't thrilled about our previous two offseasons. As for this offseason, I am not saying we will be in the SB. But I do think theyve made enough adjustments and acquisitions to where I do think we SHOULD be able to contend. Doesn't mean we will go to the SB, but I think we should be able to at least make the playoffs and get to the division round.

I know, and that's fair. But i will say that it does seem like the FO is FINALLY listening to the coaches. It seems we finally were active in FA and got players that actually made sense, as opposed to going dumpster diving and then hoping for the best in the draft. This offseason seemed a lot more logical and like a lot more effort was used compared to normal. Not that it's saying much about 2024, but I do appreciate the increased effort from the FO, and Downs is going to be a beast imo.

Most definitely, and that's why I qualified my OP especially with if the team stays healthy. That's a hugely important factor .

I'm right there with you on excitement for Dallas this season Rusty. Have you watched any interviews with Jaishawn Barham, he looks intense and don't smile much. He looks mean and that is what Dallas needs some aggression. Barham is going to be a fan favorite I expect. Barham reminds me of a Marion Barber type of player, but on the defensive side of the ball, Barham is mean as a copperhead snake.

I haven't seen the interviews, but from what I've watched of his game, I think he's going to be a monster. And to also get Moore from Florida in the 4th? That was a thing of beauty. I think Moore was one of the best prospects at CB, if not for his injury history because Florida's training staff is apparently crap. And of course, with Downs over top along with Thompson? This should be a really dangerous defence.

Yeah, LT is one concern I have, but I like our TEs, and I think Dak is still a solid QB. If he can keep up his form from last season, especially knowing that he should actually have a competent (and maybe pushing top 10 by the end of the season) defence, then I think he should actually be even better. I think he will be able to play a bit more freely, and Schotty showed to be quite creative.

Steel struggles in pass blocking as well, I look for Dak to have to get the ball out quick unless left and right tackle with this team improves a great deal. Schottenheimer and Adams will have a plan to help these tackles with tight ends; I figure on pass plays that take longer to develop.

Honestly, that's where I think the Shelton pick from Penn State was smart. I think he will end up being a good RT. My one concern is LT. I'd feel a lot better about that if they got Decker.

I like Cornelius, but I see him more as depth, sort of like what Richard was SUPPOSED to be lol. But yeah, Decker (who is a FA) or DJ Humphries (who's also a FA) from the Rams would be good ideas. Especially since they shouldn't be too expensive;

Downs is a very good safety and prob 1 of the safest picks. His floor is above average NFL safety

At least they didn't go all Mazi Smith and reach. Downs was one of the 10 best players in the draft....there's no arguing that.
