Highest graded NFL LBers the last 5 seasons

Quincy Williams was benched by the Jets at one point. Seems odd any metric has him that high. Maybe bonus points for his name starting with the letter Q?
He got benched last year but Quincy was a beast a few years ago.
There’s something weird with the Cowboys and Bobby Wagner. For some strange reason, they don’t like him. Even when Dan Quinn was here, he couldn’t manage to get the Cowboys organization to sign him.

It wasn’t until he went to Washington that the two could reunite.

All the guy does is play well, but this team wants nothing to do with him.
It’s interfering because Quinn was putting safeties at linebacker when he was here.

Seems like they didn’t want any at all.

With Parker I wonder if he’d be interested. All of their free agents have similar traits. All are young guys who have played well but never been the “guy”. Not saying that’s intentional maybe it’s coincidental.

I’m still irritated that they didn’t sign Wagner going into 2022 and went with a rookie with a neck problem instead.

But I’m doing much better since drafting Caleb and becoming the best team in the league.
Who’s the rookie with the neck problem?

I think a one year deal with Bobby Wagner makes all the sense in the world. It brings a stabilizing veteran presence and gives you your ‘green dot’ on field signal caller for training camp and week one.

It gives you the luxury of bringing the rookies along more slowly and not having to throw anyone into the fire.

This team was dumb enough to not only trade for Kenneth Murray, but to pay him $7.5 million to be a clueless embarrassment last year.

Don’t make the same mistake and pass up signing Bobby Wagner yet again.

As much as I love Wagner, I don't see a fit for him at this time

Yes Washington ran his wheels off last year but that doesn't mean they won't bring him in that whole free agent list full of linebackers hasn't changed in a month neither has the pass rushers It's weird after that first and second wave of free agent frenzy then everyone Preparing for the draft in the combine and their focus shifted That will change in the coming weeks and even pick up more after the June 1st cuts and cut downs there's gonna be more moves to be made and at that time a lot of guys like Clowny and Wagner will be picked up late And I think that the Cowboys do it right They will use him as a complimentary piece they will not use him a lot and nor should they they should use them in the moments they think he can help the most and then be a veteran present and maybe a coach in that locker room.

But again, yes Washington literally just took two years off his career in one season.. You can see why they were interested in trading for Brooks they went after Dean I mean it just didn't work out but at this point I like to trade for Dee Winters he can play middle linebacker he won't play full time middle linebacker but he does no problem playing that position at all he's very capable and very young and still I don't think his hit his ceiling yet And then they picked up Basham in the draft to go along with Overshown and others some believe that James will be better this year so yes the room's fine but I still think they'll add somebody else before the season starts at both pass rusher and linebacker and there's also these weird rumors which isn't real right now but people are bringing back up the conversation that the Cowboys might have some secret interest that might be picking up soon and bringing in Taylor Decker which I would be 100 percent on board with...

Folks are going to see that third name on the list (Jordyn Brooks, MIA) and get all excited. But it's unlikely the Cowboys are going to be trading for him.
Now that ship sailed when they rejected a very fair offer in a 3rd round pick for this guy Nobody offered any better than a 4th because yes there were other people that were interested That's just the long and short of it they they wasted that opportunity the Cowboys were willing to give him a very nice pick..

But when they pivoted and got De Winters he was one of their guys on the list he may have been 5th on their list but he definitely was on their radar when they were looking at Dean and Queen and Brooks And this is where they ended up.. So they like this guy and I like him and the fact that we have a guy that reminds me of Brady James both picked in the 4th round Both the same height and weight they play physical basham is just intriguing to me I think people are not understanding I realize he wasn't hiring anybody's radar but when you look at his RS scores his combine what he did at Maryland and the flex of moving around but he really is a middle linebacker...

And I went and watched some Brady James clips I posted some in another thread I think we're fine at linebacker That doesn't mean it won't add another one late all the way after camp and cut downs and guys out on the street a late trade for A 7th somebody is gonna end up on their radar they didn't think was available with multiple positions and they will churn that roster out..

I think they envision Winters in the Wagner role.
I'm not sure they're going to lean all on him to play middle linebacker full time lot of these players picked up in the draft and free agency have position flex within the scheme that will be evolving each week different game plans I think winters can play weak side or middle linebacker but Basham also can do it,

So, they're going to move guys around I think they're going to disguise a lot of what they're doing because players can Line up give the offense a look and then all of a sudden change at the snap and that's always a good thing..

By the way Okareke is on the bottom of that list if you look down there and click on the Twitter he's still on the free agency Don't need to trade any draft picks for a guy like that and I've always thought he would be a good addition before now even better because why wasted drop picking we're right Wagner is a little bit wore out from last year I think I rather have okareke.. He should be a pretty cheap addition at this point.

Vander Esch?

He was done by 2023.
Agreed. But the team still thought he was "good enough". Over Wagner back when Dan was here.
Baffling as it was clear from year 2 on that he wasn't the same player from his rookie regular season.
Slower, timid, unwilling to take collisions etc.

That will take years off his nfl career....
Equivilent to a rb getting 35 carries per game.....injuries add up
Darren Woodson led the Cowboys in tackles twice, was second 3 more times, and is the all time leader in tackles for the Dallas Cowboys with 1,350, and he played 12 seasons. Not all players are alike, but it's not unusual for a good safety to lead the team in tackles.

And not even Quinn wanted him at this point!

Slim chance now. Maybe at the trade deadline if the dolphins stink. But little reason for them to move him now and not prior to the draft
Dolphins are sitting on around 1.8m in cap space!

Ah. Gotcha.

Meanwhile, Wagner has his 9th Pro Bowl season in Seattle, and his 10th Pro Bowl season in 2024 in Washington.

:banghead:

When you can replace him with Sonny Styles…
They made that decision long before Styles became part of the equation.
I'm guessing it was somewhere around the halfway point of last season!

I mean I don’t disagree with taking a look but I assumed trading for the Texans linebacker that was the resources they wanted to use.

10m a year is the reason.

From
What I’ve read apparently Wagner is good against the run but they wanted to upgrade their linebacker room. To the point they used a top 10
Pick on linebacker. Nevermind they have Frankie Luvu and signed Chanal. Which you can’t blame them they were just as bad as we were.

I have always believed that the BEST coaches adjust their schemes to fit the talent
if you have a top talent the BEST coaches figure out how to use them
