To do this, the model uses various metrics and assigns a projection to each player to show their impact on a single game. Of course, positional value is quite important, which means, for example, that quarterback Josh Allen is worth a lot more to his team than running back Bijan Robinson, even though both sit atop their respective positions.

Defense is the problem. My model believes the Cowboys need a lot at edge rusher, where they'll be leaning on second-year player Donovan Ezeiruaku and rookie Malachi Lawrence. The interior defensive line is great, and recent No. 11 pick Caleb Downs should help in the secondary, but there are still some major holes.

Its impossible to project the Cowboys because we have no idea how the defense will perform. It could be a stink fest if CP can't call a defense and they can't get QB pressure. It also could be awesome. No idea and I don't think anyone knows for certain.

All these "ranking" and "rating" articles are just click bait fillers. Writers and reporters have no real news to write about so they fill space and time with "opinion" stuff just to get as much as attention as possible. After the draft and before full training camps is the prime time for that stuff.

Don't get the Bills ranking 3rd. They had probably the worst WR group in the league last year and their defensive DVOA was 20th. They added DJ Moore, who's solid but aging and hasn't impressed in Chicago the past couple year, and Skylar Bell who is a rookie 4th round coin flip.

I know they added Chubb to help the pass rush but honestly, 3rd is either insane or an indicator of how much Josh Allen elevates that squad.
