Cowboys roster ranked 13th in league

The fact that AJ brown can move a teams ranking up or down 10 places shows me the model is flawed drastically
I don't know anything about the model they used and I see some rankings that I would just flat out disagree with so I wont go out of my way to defend it overall, however I think this does make an interesting discussion about player value. I think the general perception of the NFL is that you have 3-5 teams at the very top that are ahead of the pack, 3-5 teams at the bottom who dont have a hope, and then everyone else is pretty close together in the middle of the pack.

To me I think it does validify the idea that an AJ Brown type of player could be worth 10ish spots. Based on the model those 10 spots are only separated by about a FG per game. While its extremely tough to dedicate direct points from an indidivual player in the NFL, an extra 3 points per game on average sounds to be about a fair value for a top WR. It's a good representation as to why teams are willing to give up multiple premium picks to go get one player to put their teams over the top, even non QBs.

My model has compiled all the rosters as they stand after the NFL Draft and ranked them from best to worst. To do this, the model uses various metrics and assigns a projection to each player to show their impact on a single game. Of course, positional value is quite important, which means, for example, that quarterback Josh Allen is worth a lot more to his team than running back Bijan Robinson, even though both sit atop their respective positions.

1. Los Angeles Rams
2. Seattle Seahawks
3. Buffalo Bills
4. Kansas City Chiefs
5. Philadelphia Eagles (Drops to league average if A.J. Brown trade)
6. Los Angeles Chargers
7. Denver Broncos
8. Baltimore Ravens
9. Green Bay Packers
10. Jacksonville Jaguars
11. San Francisco 49ers
12. Detroit Lions

13. Dallas Cowboys
It starts with the offense. The Cowboys are set at quarterback and wide receiver, and they should be good along the offensive line. The tandem of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens is arguably the league's best one-two WR punch.

Defense is the problem. My model believes the Cowboys need a lot at edge rusher, where they'll be leaning on second-year player Donovan Ezeiruaku and rookie Malachi Lawrence. The interior defensive line is great, and recent No. 11 pick Caleb Downs should help in the secondary, but there are still some major holes.

14. Houston Texans
15. New England Patriots (Top 5 with A.J. Brown trade)
16. Cincinnati Bengals
17. Chicago Bears
18. Minnesota Vikings
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
20. Indianapolis Colts
21. Pittsburgh Steelers
22. Washington *#$&*#%#
23. Atlanta Falcons
24. New Orleans Saints
25. Carolina Panthers
26. New York Giants
27. Tennessee Titans
28. Las Vegas Raiders
29. Cleveland Browns
30. Arizona Cardinals
31. New York Jets
32. Miami Dolphins

If this draft turns out well
Maybe we get on a roll, and two more seasons were actually a championship team
Jerry just has to stay out of the way

Dont agree with this list at all lol.

Wouldn't be surprised if we still trade for Crosby at some point.
By all accounts both the Raiders and Crosby are happy things worked out the way they did. Unless someone blows them away, I expect them to keep him.

aj brown swinging the rankings of whichever team he's on that wildly is insane lol

Rankings like this before a single game is played is how paper champions are born. It doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot.

This is ridiculous. New England 15 but top 5 after AJ gets traded to them? Lol. New England is a top tier team right now. Regardless of a wr and the Vrabel situation. 15 is way too low.Dallas is just about right but the chargers 6? Get outta here. No way are the chargers a top 10 roster. Herbert isnt great. That oline is suss.

Agreed. I said the same essentially prior to seeing what you said. The chargers ranking is too rich also. I think the roster rank of Dallas is pretty accurate.

I can't say he is wrong. Although I still think the offensive line needs to prove it. I do agree the defense has some questions surrounding it. I don't love the pass rush yet. But people are forgetting about Sam Williams. I still hold out hope that he will be 100% healthy this year and maybe get back to the player that showed potential two years ago - minus the bonehead mistakes.

To me, the defense will only be as good as the pass rush.

Same
Thing I was thinking. I think Philly has talent even letting Brown go but to drop 10 spots yeah this is flawed. Now I’m questioning the whole list.
