Then there are several questionable teams: LAC, MINNY, CHI, DET, and maybe even CAR, who is on the way up. HOUS if they find a QB. Exactly what are the Colts?

As per usual in the offseason, there is a ton up in the air right now. Is Philly still good? Was WASH a 1 year wonder? Who knows about the Ravens.

Again...all I am saying is the two starters were already ion the team. That's it. Did not "wait".

Was it luck? Planned? I'd say luck...but the fact is, the next two starters for what more in 20 years? 25? ...were already on the team when they became starters.

Not sure how to make it more clear or simple.
Well, here's even more clear and simple. Those two becoming starters was not the plan. Complete accidents. It's not like we acquired a QB to start, just dart throws, same as Mike White and Basketboy, and Moore.

I don't like those away games on this schedule. Can see 5 very possible losses right there, just based on last seasons results.

8-10.

Yes, we've gotten "stronger" but the other teams weren't exactly standing pat either
When the hell did we start playing 18 games, bozo?

Obviously trying to pump in one more win.....you sicken me

A good reason for that and that's why the Rams are being criticized for what they did the Cowboys this year couldn't afford it It was a weak quarterback class in the first place but they used a lot of their draft picks on other players like George Pickens and Quinn Williams They used some others to trade up and around they had bigger holes to worry about some years Then who's gonna sit for years and then you hope when he finally gets his chance he's gonna be good because that's usually not the case...

I always find it ironic that you all think it's that easy that you find a good enough quarterback to replace your current one stash them on a roster in a league that 16 teams at some point have struggled for a decade finding a starter but we're just gonna reach out overdraft and stash one on the roster..

That doesn't work that way teams have gotten lucky that's just how it works sometimes but other teams have not I mean how long did it take the Jets and the Browns and even the Giants in Washington I mean Washington let go of Cousins Who is playing pretty well they just didn't like it they thought they could just reach in and go find another one and the Jerry's still out if Jayden Daniels will stay healthy enough or be a real short career or turn in a very average We saw that before with that very team.

Bring it to your attention how silly it sounds for fans to think you could just go find one and stash it when there are teams in this league that can't even find a starter you have to dumb luck your way into a player like we did with Romo and Dak I mean sure they put him on the team but Tom Brady and Brock Purdy were not supposed to be the future of those teams at quarterback they got lucky...

Just like you watch the Packers you seem like 0 this is a plan well no they got lucky That's just the way it is because other teams have spent decades I mean I don't even think the Browns have still found their quarterback when's the last time they've had even someone that you could consider a franchise quarterback oh that's right they thought they were doing the right thing by getting rid of Baker That was also a mistake..

But you want the Cowboys to do something at backup quarterback of the future Well other teams can't even do at starter...

Lastly and I realize you don't like the choices in hindsight or whatever the Cowboys put a 4th and a 5th round pick which is about where they would have used in the draft to look at another quarterback but they used it on Milton and Trey Lance And Trey Lance is also a backup with the Chargers so don't tell me how bad of a choice it would have been I mean the San Francisco 49ers thought he was good enough to get three first round picks so I don't want to hear how they wasted a 4th round pick no Jerry's looking for that guy in a different manner..

He's hoping at some point one of these projects are going to turn into the next Romo somebody you never thought was going to be the starter here not a franchise quarterback for sure and Prescott was a 4th rounder that was 4th on the depth chart And there you go that's how it works you get lucky You just put the guys on the roster and you hope they can fill a position but if you try to overdraft a quarterback of the future and then you wait three years and it turns out he's not so good you could have got a player that can play right now..

When this team is not producing at the quarterback position then we can talk about replacing him But right now Prescott is still producing at a very high level he's in very good shape It's not something you should just try to get rid of quickly I understand people want comfort from the fans perspective they want the guy on the roster ready to take over and that's just not how it works...

Yes Jerry's doing it Non conventional way instead of drafting them and hope you find one like Tom Brady or Brock Purdy they use those resources to go get one off another team...

They are looking they're just not looking hard and I don't think they should... Again the Be careful what you wish for everyone trying to get rid of Prescott really fast and I already mentioned some of the other teams that did that and it was a mistake they should never let Baker or Cousins go until they were really sure..

Been seen lately some of these retreads daniel Jones looks like he's found himself maybe Malik Willis Geno Smith and more recently Sam Darnold's the poster child for going from bust to a ring.

I can't Jerry do that that's basically what he's doing he's getting these guys and he's hoping that one of them will find their way into at least being a solid starter..
Firstly, I didn’t imply that Jerry should be looking for Dak’s replacement now. You start a year or two before like the rams did. But I can see why rams fans are upset. The goal is Super Bowls and they are THAT close that a 1st round player could push them over the top.

Secondly, Jerry didn’t trade for trance or Milton to take over for Dak. He took a flyer hoping they could at least develop into backups and if they really do well, flip them for picks. Jerry is not going to move on from Dak. Not saying he should or shouldn’t.

Thirdly, sometimes you don’t have the luxury of drafting a QB, when your starter is coming to the end of his career. The 9ers screwed up the trance pick and then got lucky with Purdy. The trance pick messed up their plans.

Lastly, we know Dak is closer to the end than the beginning. Again didn’t imply this year, but it wouldn’t hurt to start looking next year or the year after. If the QB doesn’t pan out, so be it. Like you said it isn’t easy finding and hitting on one.

Say that either I said they went the same route as other teams that picked up guys like Baker Sam Darnold Geno Smith and now Malik Willis who seemed to have found their game and honorable mention Daniel Jones I'm saying that this is what Jerry is thinking it may not have been to replace that but what if it is what if it's a project that improves their game and resurrect their career..

That's what I said and I was talking to you and the person you were replying to given the fact that you turned a thread about wins and losses into Prescott's replacement all of y'all I was just adding to that thread as they say not just to you but the person you were talking to and the person he was talking to..

Did not draft that guy They use draft picks on a guy that maybe ends up being like Romo was found and Prescott was found There isn't no way at the time thinking either one of those players can be a starter and that's the same thing as what Jerry's doing now whether it works out or not he is definitely giving up some assets to hopefully hit on somebody.

Yes the Rams they already have a guy that's pretty good as a backup that could be your future project so they get it again and double down and that's nice for them but I'm also saying lots of people criticize the move because they don't know 2 to three years from now if this guy's a bust or not It was a weak class of quarterbacks we all know that To them going up there and using that capital to get a guy you don't even know how he's going to work out to me is a waste..

If you see system guys like even Mac Jones playing behind Purdy I didn't really see the difference this year but you can do that versus drafting them especially in those systems that seemed to be like the Rams they could turn a guy like Mac Jones into a starter..

Listen the other examples Sam Darnold just ran want a ring and he wasn't supposed to do anything but some team decided to take a flyer on him a couple of times he did very well when he landed with the Vikings the Vikings were stupid they didn't keep him and now he's got a ring that is where Jerry's heads at he knows it's not right away but if he could get one of these cast offs to turn into one of these other cast offs that turned their careers around that means he is addressing it..

The Jaguars and Buccaneers are the types of teams that are difficult to predict. I can see scenarios of winning or losing to them
Most definitely. I throw the packers in there too. They’re good but kinda Jekyll and Hyde like

Well I'd rather the Cowboys be challenged in all these games not have a lot of these cupcake games and easy games that swell their head give them a false sense of security and then not be ready for the better teams They come out of the gate having to play hard teams go on the road a tough schedule with travel it just wakes them up early and hopefully they can meet the challenge..

Do you think Jerry would draft a quarterback that high and pay Dak Prescott? I have a bridge to sell you, my friend.
Next year will be Prescott 13 season, going on 14. Yeah, if we were that high in the draft he would take Archie.

I guess you’re saying there is more than one way to skin a cat. I just think it’s better to be proactive when possible. It’s obviously not always possible.

Its apparent that other teams have done it the same way, Isn't it quite obvious that Sam Darnold was not drafted to win a ring with the Seattle Seahawks, he made that long road over there, Same with Geno Smith resurrecting his career Also guys like Daniel Jones doing a lot better with the Colts Baker Mayfield gets ridiculously cut and ends up with the Buccaneers.

And I don't what's gonna happen to Mac Jones and Malik Willis but it looks like they're doing the same thing You don't always have to draft a guy you can go pick the guy up that was drafted and find a way to catch in a upswing in their developmental mode.

I mean we just talked about this tony Roma wasn't meant to be the starter he was an undrafted free agent turned out to be a franchise guy kurt Warner Hall of Famer undrafted Sam Darnold i'm gonna bring it up again He was brought over and want a ring in his first year with Seattle why can't the Cowboys do the same thing and I just gotta mention the two names brock Purdy is the starter for the 49ers they had no idea when they picked him last in the draft that that was gonna happen And Tom Brady 6th round pick to the GOAT..

Picks for Milton and guys like Trey Lance , Jerry doing the very same thing It may not workout but he's using some draft capital and taking a flyer on resurrecting one of these guys career or finish developing them..

So yes there's more ways to do it but this is not that unconventional it seems very conventional you either waste a draft pick directly in the draft or you use one indirectly and you make a trade or you just pick a guy up off the scrapheap and sometimes it works out..

A man's trash could be another man's treasure but yes when you're talking about trying to find the next starter for your team at quarterback which is very difficult you do it in every way..

Like you said above when it becomes a pressure need when Prescott is gone they will then use more resources but at least maybe they'll have a bridge guy by then..

So very conventional when you look around the league.. I mean Gino Smith may not be great to you but he is a bridge guy now he went from trash to starting for the Seahawks and playing very well then lost his job to Sam Darnold you see the irony there and then goes to the Raiders and doesn't have a good year but it probably wasn't all him and now he's starting for the Jets again full circle but he is a starter..

But he was thrown out as trash and now he's not so much trash now he's your bridge guy maybe to your other guy which you could still win with one of those guys..

Sometimes I will go on a tangent like this and I say a lot over and over it's very redundant in the same rant but I think that you miss the fact that this is something that the NFL does on a regular basis..

Yes it's one way to skin a cat, And if they need to in the event that Prescott leaves suddenly without a plan they can go get a bridge guy and then find their way through the draft to hopefully get a starter but they can trade for a guy just like Seattle did...

To me it seems like the Seattle Seahawks did not draft a single player in the last couple of decades that was good enough to start at quarterback So what they do they try to resurrect Geno Smith and they got pretty close they took a reboot and tried with Sam Darnold and won a ring why can't the Cowboys do that when it's time the Seattle Seahawks were sucked at drafting quarterbacks so they did it unconventionally in your opinion they skinned the cat got a ring and here we are...

Hopefully the Cowboys can do that with Prescott the next couple of years find their way into the Super Bowl by making their defense that good that's the key here let's fix the defense and stop worrying about the future quarterback let's worry about trying to get the current quarterback a ring before he has to leave..

I took the under:

1. Shottenheimer is not a real HC
2. The division is a lot tougher
3. The non serious culture continues

A solid guess is in the 8-10 win range. In a legit bet, I'd go under to protect my money since the team has to prove what they are first. As for the QBOF talk, I'd love something to be done there but remember the Jets get our best 1st rnd pick next season. Dont leave much hope in landing Arch or any other high profile QB next season without dipping into future drafts

Next year will be Prescott 13 season, going on 14. Yeah, if we were that high in the draft he would take Archie.
Really? Because Payton was available and Jerry didnt move on him because he hates paying people not to work lol.

Really? Because Payton was available and Jerry didnt move on him because he hates paying people not to work lol.
Are you talking about when he was available when he went to Denver, or when he was a rookie?
We didn’t need Peyton Manning. We had Prescott and he was more than capable. The rest of the team was pretty bad
When we lose, I say we suck. I don’t say our quarterback sucks.
You win and lose as a team in my opinion

Um...that is exactly whay I said.

Not sure how you can argue the fact that we had the next guy ALREADY on the roster to start.

I'm not arguing if we do NOW.

Doesn't everyone team rely on dart throwing? Is it luck or competance? I'm not arguing that. Come on.

.

Thirdly, sometimes you don’t have the luxury of drafting a QB, when your starter is coming to the end of his career. The 9ers screwed up the trance pick and then got lucky with Purdy. The trance pick messed up their plans.
There a lot of random luck even for competant teams and "sure things".
