S.I. - Biggest NFL Draft Steal in Each Round

I appreciate getting a player everyone agrees is a generational player. But unless he's Ed Reed....do we want the highest paid Safety in NFL history? I know that is not what he makes now...but if he turns out to be the best Safety in the NFL...that's where this is headed.
Salary cap will be bumped up in 5 years too. If as advertised he will be the highest player at his position, We trade him or pay him.

Your problem with Him is that He might be too good and that We might have to pay Him in 4 years time?

Thats like complaining that the long string of numbers on your bank statement hurt your eyes.

Actually 5 years with the team favorable 5th year team option on 1st round picks.

He's being talked up like he can have an Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, Earl Thomas, Eric Berry impact on the Cowboys, We shall see.

I understand why Downs did. The only one that confused me was Delane. He wasn’t a reach just trading up for him kind of confused me.
Whether they were correct or not, KC believed the saints were going to draft him. That's what I heard that night anyway and I think everyone expected Washington to draft Styles.

I get that. What I’m saying is I didn’t get the fear of losing him lol..the consolation was Downs.

Interesting about the Saints. I read they wanted to build the offense. Made sense to go offense.

...somebody made good point. When Dallas won super bowls in those era's.

THey had good really good safeties. 70's/Cliff Harris/Charlie Waters 90's/Woodson

Since then, who did we have to equal in caliber? I thought maybe Micheal Downs was ok.

They had issues at corner. It's so bad they have Kair Elam.

Just shows you how few GMs are really competent when the majority think Safety is a low value position.
Yep, I’d argue that for the most part in most schemes today, S is more important than CB esp with the PI rules the way they are.

It was a deep corner class plenty of guys available in later rounds. Not saying it’s a bad move it was the head scratcher to me but I’m also not as high on Delane as they are they have the scouts.

Is it too early to call him the God Emperor of football?

Hopefully, Jerry dies and we win a SB before then.

If we end up with Ed Reed, that would be awesome

But, you’re right about having to pay him being a huge issue

We should see if we can get out of this before it’s too late.
