That was the going rate if you signed but there’s nothing to indicate Micah would’ve signed early especially for that. Now if they offered him 40 or 42? I could see that getting done. You were gonna have to massively overpay then to get it done. And I would’ve personally.

That's why overreactions to drafts/trades are very impulsive; seldom do these hot takes age well. The D was as bad without Micah last year as it was with him. We had to not pay his next contract, and the time to deal with him was ideal, due to the need to build an entire new D. The schenagigans he played during his time here grew old, and the injury risk is now heightened more than it was for a one-trick pony.

I don’t disagree. But we know that’s not how Dallas operates. They wanted him to play on the tag eventually and sign him to a big deal. It’s how they handled Dak, Lawrence, etc

We have to remember at the time Parsons made the so-called I don't have to be the highest paid player statement, it was offseason following his 3rd year. At the time I think the Browns made Garrett the highest paid defensive player at $35M. So yeah, Jerry could have signed him to a top 3 contract but they were more focused on getting Dak ( who had another year ) and Lamb done.

The most recent deal was Bosa's. He could not have exceeded Bosa by much seeing as Bosa had just won DPOY over him. It was perfect timing to get a deal done and a built-in upper limit. They hesitated ....... again.

Micah was just talking. At the time I bought it but seeing how he plays with the media for personal gain I realize now he was never taking 34. He believes he’s better than Myles Garrett and should get more.

If you think getting rid of Parsons was franchise altering, just think what could come from letting #4 hit the bricks when his next extension comes up. He's another person not worth overpaying and who has limitations in his game.

Wade had the misfortune of having Jerry's pet project as his OC. Jerry was just itching for the chance to kick Wade to the curb and promote Garrett

Yep ........that was always Wade's defense. Top 5 for his first year or 2 and then a huge drop off. It's he never coached for one team for more than 3-4 years.

That's what the trade and subsequent offseason decisions essentially brought with the money Micah wanted.

And it provided the depth to make the Osa trade possible that brought Barham.

It may be early, but this has shades of the Herschel Walker trade about it.
