News: ESPN: Sources: Browns, Rams finalizing Myles Garrett blockbuster trade

Welcome to the “30 year All in while hanging around the rim” era.

I can almost guarantee a quote coming soon from Mr. “Air Quotes” Jones himself very soon.

Something about how proud they are as an organization that they are “financially responsible” and won’t mortgage their future.
Well they spent some significant money this year, it was just mostly on their own players as usually.

Interesting trade. I like it for the Browns as they get a much younger star pass rusher that works way better with their timeline and another 1st rounder that could be used to package for a top QB in the draft. It’s much more risky for the Rams but it’s worked once before for them so why not?

Impossible to not like this move for the Rams. The name of the game is winning championships, and adding Garrett helps them get there.

Verse is a nice piece, but he is an 8 sack type rusher, not a 20 sack inner-circle Hall of Famer.

We knew Jerry would never have the chops to pull a deal off like this. He just doesn’t have the brains for it nor does his boob son Cletus.
Deals like this take intricacy and a desire to win.
You’ll get Dante Fowler on a discount and like it.
Yea Jerry doesn't understand business deals

They manage the team without getting overly attached to players. We seem to have a "we drafted him, he's our guy" mentality. Micah was the only player of value we have traded away and gotten anything of value in return since Jimmy Johnson ran the personnel department.......... and that only happened bc Micah and his agent pretty much forced Jerry's hand. If we had a 3rd year defensive stud like Verse, no way jerry trades him.

We should have been all over that.
First of all who is we You don't have a football team but if you want one you can put them on your fantasy football team buy his jersey and go root for the Rams now you don't understand no they could not have been all over it they didn't have a verse He's a young player that some know is worth at least a first round pick but he is basically Micah Parsons they basically gave Parsons plus another first round pick a second and a 3rd round pick and then two years after that like a 5th and a 6th round pick are you serious the Cowboys had none of that to offer They can't even offer their first round picks next year some of y'all really need to get on board with the reality it's stay in the facts the Cowboys did not have the resources to do this and it's a severe overpayment by the Rams in my opinion..

It might put them over the top but are we gonna keep going over this how many of these great pass rushers on all these other teams crosby with the Raiders Garrett with the Browns TJ Watt never winning a damn playoff game with the Steelers joey Boso with the same problem doesn't win games and big games Lots of these great names making all this money getting all these sacks don't have rings they not put average to bad teams over the top..

Yes just maybe it helps the Rams win now but they mortgage their entire future and that's great they do call that all in and the Rams do do that they almost have no draft picks the next three years

Apparently that works for them but no the Cowboys absolutely could not have been all over that they could not have even started to have anything to offer for him but three 1st round picks is basically what was given for him That's in total what that package is worth regardless of how you want to try to squeeze it together and no I would not have been in that mix for Garrett because the Cowboys are not a single player away They're not in the same position to mortgage their entire future for right now for this year..

And also we call this a single point of failure top heavy just like the Packers went after Parsons he got hurt they didn't win anything at all they didn't go in any far in the playoffs at all weren't they one and done that's right that's all it takes.

Prefer the Cowboys to build their team and their defense like Seattle and New England you know those were the ones that actually were in the Super Bowl last year seattle won the Super Bowl last year they did it without a single pass rusher with double digit sacks you don't need that guy nowadays if you have enough of the other pieces I don't know if the Cowboys have those yet they're rebuilding the defense right now they're in a rebuilding phase you don't go after a Myles Garrett for basically 3 1st round picks that is really a dumb idea But that coming from a fan I get it you think that this is madden and fantasy football..

Goes for anybody in here that believes that the Cowboys should have done that it is absolutely insane how you can't separate fact from fiction They never would have been in this nor should they have..

Kudos to the Rams they overpaid for a guy because they believe they are in the window to win this year right now that's what they want they don't care about their future picks They wanna win now the Cowboys were not in the same situation I know it feels like that to you but it's not they're rebuilding the defense and couldn't afford to be top heavy that is why they got rid of Parsons now do they need to go after another pass rusher maybe another linebacker maybe they're going to be out there in free agency they're going to be cut this week they're going to be cut after the last preseason game and yes they should add more to this roster..

GREAT FOR THEM

The Dallas Cowboys could not have been in on this!

They didn’t have a Verse. He’s a young player that many believe is worth at least a first-round pick, but he’s basically Micah Parsons. The Rams essentially gave up Parsons, plus another first-round pick, a second, and a third-round pick, then two years later a fifth and a sixth-round pick. Are you serious? The Cowboys had none of that to offer. They can’t even trade their first-round picks next year. Some people need to face the reality and stick to the facts,

the Cowboys didn’t have the resources to make this happen, and in my opinion, it’s a massive overpayment by the Rams.

It might push them over the top, but do we really have to keep going over this? Look at all the great pass rushers on other teams, Crosby with the Raiders, Garrett with the Browns, T.J. Watt never winning a playoff game with the Steelers, Joey Bosa with the same issue, these guys don’t win big games. Plenty of these big names making huge money and racking up sacks don’t have rings. They don’t turn average or bad teams into champions.

Maybe it helps the Rams win now, but they’ve mortgaged their entire future. They call it going “all in,” and they’ve certainly done that, with almost no draft picks for the next three years. Apparently, that works for them, but the Cowboys couldn’t have been part of that deal. They had nothing close to offer, and the package given up, worth about three first-round picks, was far too steep.

I wouldn’t have pursued Garrett anyway, because the Cowboys aren’t just one player away and aren’t in a position to sacrifice their entire future for this season.

This is what we call a single point of failure, too top heavy.

Just like when the Packers went after Parsons, he got hurt, and they ended up winning nothing. They didn’t go far in the playoffs at all, one and done, and that’s all it takes.

I’d rather see the Cowboys build their team and defense like Seattle and New England, both of whom were in the Super Bowl last year.

Seattle even won it without a single pass rusher hitting double-digit sacks, proving you don’t need that type of player if you have enough other pieces.

I’m not sure the Cowboys have those yet; they’re still in a rebuilding phase on defense. Trading for a Myles Garrett at the cost of essentially three first-round picks would be a terrible idea.

I get that, as a fan, it’s tempting to think this is Madden or fantasy football, but it’s not.

That goes for anyone who thinks the Cowboys should’ve done it, it’s crazy not to separate fact from fiction. They never would have been in that position, nor should they have been.

Kudos to the Rams for overpaying for a player because they believe they’re in the window to win this year. That’s their priority, and they’re not concerned about future picks, they want to win now. The Cowboys aren’t in the same situation.

I know it may feel that way, but they’re rebuilding the defense and couldn’t afford to be top-heavy, which is why they moved on from Parsons.

Should they target another pass rusher or maybe a linebacker? Possibly. There will be players available in free agency, and cuts will happen this week and after the last preseason game. Yes, they should definitely look to add more to this roster.

They traded a very good player. The Browns got Verse.
That's the overpay. My guess is the Rams didn't want to pay him the extension he was going to eventually get. The Rams probably think, despite that, they improved their team. They probably did. But the Browns got a good deal too.

Yes they definitely overpaid they believe it's right for their team right now The Browns got a great deal I believe they won this trade regardless of what happens because Miles Garrett was not happy see he's not Micah Parsons He doesn't have the egocentric loud agent that Parsons had.. Behind the scenes he's been wanting to be traded for two years and I believe he went in there quietly and told him he just doesn't want to be a Brown anymore and wasn't motivated to play this year.. He got his trade but the Browns definitely got their future player and picks.. They essentially gave three first round picks for this guy at 8:30 and I realize he's great rest of your life but when you're putting all your eggs in that basket they're risking the same thing that Green Bay did with Parsons..

Even if it's an injury or if a guy just doesn't live up to the hype it doesn't help them get over the top then yes they just mortgage their future...

It's OK for the Rams but that definitely wouldn't have worked for the Cowboys anybody in here trying to sell the fact that Jerry's stupid and should have tried to make a trade like this just doesn't understand the difference in the situations completely different...
