Stephen tried to warn the Rams

This guy is one example of why I don’t understand why people put billionaires on a pedestal and bend to their will.

Spoken by a guy who has never earned a position at anything without his last name leading the way.

Stephen Jones has no more grasp of what it takes to build a SB winner than most other nepo-babies who have neither accomplished anything on their own nor have the respect of those who have legitimately earned it.

At least Jerry earned his billions on his own. And made a great coaching hire at the beginning of his ownership that gave him some legitimacy, faded though it is now.

Stephen Jones was 24 when Jerry bought the Cowboys. He has had three decades of being a big dog around here and what does he have to show for it? His Dads money. No rings or trophies.
Jerry didn't earn his billions as he was born rich. He would have never made any money had he not been a "fortunate son".

Fans sound stupid when they think the Cowboys should have been in on Garrett or that the front office had even 1% chance of getting him in ANY trade offer.
  1. The Cowboys had nothing of value to offer the Browns. Just as the Cowboys wouldn’t consider a Micah trade that didn’t include a quality DT, the Rams turned down 2 first round picks plus others because they were not entertaining a trade at all until it included the 25 year old defensive rookie of the year who has made the pro bowl in both NFL seasons, a player who has 12 sacks and 3 more in the playoffs, and a guy they have control of for 3 more years on his rookie deal.
  2. Most importantly, Miles Garrett had a no trade clause, just like Dak had. The Cowboys could have offered every decent player + 5 first round picks and the deal never would have happened because Garrett would not approve a trade to anyone but a serious SB contender.
So if you don’t like the Cowboys work this offseason, cool. But if you’ve changed your tune because the Rams made a huge trade for Miles Garrett, why? The Cowboys have nothing to do with this.

Has anyone warned the Jones Boys as to their way is not working?
And if they did, would they listen?
They wouldn’t listen. They’re too arrogant
These type of people live in a vacuum.

They are isolated by "yes men" and sycophants dedicated to remaing on the payroll.

Ronaldus Magnus was quoted as saying; "There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit."

Wise and profound words to live by but the Jones are the very antithesis of it.

Nothing really new though

I don't think anyone here would mind going all in for a couple years if it equated to a Super Bowl but had to risk taking a step back in future years. For the Rams this is probably Stafford's last couple of years, he's still playing at a high level so why not?

Stephen's comments are funny looking back.

I’m pretty sure Jerry wasn’t born wealthy. I think his family was middle class at the time of his birth. His dad was a working class guy from Little Rock who worked in and eventually owned a grocery store.

Far be it from me to defend Jerry. But I don’t think he was a born on third base kid like his children.

The ironic part is that Jerry repeatedly wants to assert this "gambler" reputation but the real truth is that he's one of the most conservative roster builders in the NFL.

Sneak and Roseman are the real gamblers and it paid off in spades for both of them

Jerry already tried that route. He spent a ton of the cap, but was always derailed due to his fantastically bad talent/team evaluation.

I remember back in 08 when Jerry was chasing Pacman, the Niners quietly signed Justin Smith, who led them to a super bowl.

Jerry does not comprehend NFL talent or team. And he really has no clue what it takes to win in the playoffs. He's like the casual fan who screams "they're all talented so it doesn't matter." I mean, that is one of the dumbest statement I've ever seen on this site. Yeah, Myles Garret is the same as Tyrone Crawford, exact same player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, didn't realize they always trade away their firsts. It's really pretty smart once you factor in the busts and the amount you spend on first rounds picks anyways,,, might as well spend that cap and those draft picks on a known quantity. Not to mention that it's only the top 10 or 15 that have first round grades.
If you do that you absolutely MUST draft as well as anyone in the mid rounds. They do. Dallas does not.

The difference is the coaching. There’s an ocean or two between McVay and anyone Jerry would even consider hiring. He has to be the man. No other way.

Why have 1 Mylest Garrett when you could have 3 Tyrone Crawfords for the same price, lol? 3 for 1 special!

Yeah no one and I mean NO ONE should be taking advice from the Jones clowns. They mistake their good luck for genius.

The Jones boys are content to just feel like they have a chance every year. They are never going all in. Forget that some lean years laid the foundation of the 90's dynasty.

This is true. The problem is that the longest tenured GM is acting off the 1990s script and refuses to admit defeat.

We see it as "defeat" be he will say that turning an initial investment of 140 Million into 13 Billion is a WIN.

From that perspective, hes not wrong, I guess.

We would say their last luck was over a quarter century ago but they would say the real luck is the 13 Billion valuation.

The Jonses are content on just making the playoffs. That is their goal. And they typically try to build teams that can do that, if they fail that is when they make big changes. That is why they happily run things back after getting bounced early in the playoffs, they were good enough to get in which translates to success/goal achieved for them. They failed last year so we saw all the big changes this off season. We have never seen this Team get bounced in the playoffs and the Jonses say that wasn't good enough and then actually try to improve the team.

Very true.

One of the most frustrating aspects of watching the Jones operate is after losing in the playoffs because of certain clear roster deficiencies, they double down on running it back with “our guys”.

In short, they believe in their own bs. They surround themselves with sycophants who do not challenge them. How do we know this? Because they don’t change much even after decades of playoff failure.

They are the most “satisfied” sports leaders I’ve ever seen. They would rather fail without being challenged or questioned than admit faults and change.

And for everyone saying the Jones’ “have changed”, I would hold off on the anointing oil until the results on the field are evident.
