Rashan Gary and Marist Liufau at OTA's

He couldn't play off ball. This move is his last chance.
I don't see anything as a last chance you guys over evaluate what you think you see and hear.. I'm not saying he's gonna resurrect his career but Randy White his first two years played special teams in linebackers couldn't even break into the starting lineup as a linebacker moved him to defensive line and he became the Manster..

Guys like Rico and Davis they take time to develop not everyone is just NFL ready so I don't think it's his last chance he could end up back off the ball by the end of preseason maybe this is an experiment but maybe in this new defense just maybe he ends up back there playing well..

He says making a position switch All they're saying is we're gonna test the theory and see if he could play over there and I'm betting it also means they have no qualms about moving him back off the ball and letting him earn a spot on the team...

Again I'm not saying he's make the team or resurrect this career i'm just saying some of y'all don't recognize trends in the league and see that some players take a while how do you think Zach Baun ended up on the Eagles?

They sort of seen what he had athletically and then turned him into a Pro Bowler I mean that dude was nothing when he got there The same thing can be said about a player that's on a team that has a chance to prove that he can be an NFL player..

We could keep bringing up the Eagles I mean they also brought over a guy in free agency in Brian Huff who was pretty good elsewhere and couldn't do absolutely nothing in that defense And then he leaves and he's doing better now it's just kind of odd but that's just sometimes how players take a little while It took Miles Austin his third year even before his hamstring injuries it took him a while to develop other players take a while..

Always good to see. Not sure if Liafaus best spot is an edge rusher. Doesn’t really look the part but I’m gonna figure CP knows more than I do about defense.
That's the thing just because Parker at the beginning is saying he's moving to OLB playing on as a pass rusher doesn't mean he'll end up there because he said that's the plan doesn't mean plans won't change and him him being back at off the ball linebacker and maybe finding his place in this defense that's their plan to begin camps that doesn't mean it's gonna end in preseason the same way it started...

And this is exactly why they should have kept Mazi.

Uberpuss doesn't know squat about developing and bringing out the best in players....CP specializes in that.

We'll rue the day.....
The Best DC ever could not have fixed Mazi

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Cary have ties to CP. if so I like the idea of our defensive coordinator and newly acquired DE being on the same page and being able to help others adjust to the system.

I hated the Marist selection because he was largely a finesse style, flow LB.
And as a former 80s/90s LB I hate guys who do not get to the ball almost every play and hit people every play.

He never put up big tackle numbers, and his tacking grade was always his lowest while at Notre Dame.

What he did do well was rush the passer from LB.
He had 8 sacks over 3 seasons playing as a box backer.

As a depth edge and special teams guy he can earn his 3rd round money.

I knew Mazi was a lost cause the moment after the draft when he said "I don't even like football. I just like hitting people".

Guess the joy of hitting people left him because now he's just a 320 pound traffic cone taking up space on the field for the Jets instead of the Cowboys.

Excellent post. This is also the reason I am excited for Jaishawn Barham. He clearly embraces the physical side of playing LB. He's an old school type that wants to bring the pain.

There is a reason why we brought in Gary and drafted Lawrence high.

His problem is the numbers at OLB/edge. They likely keep five.

another wasted third round pick waiting to happen. could not play middle linebacker and the cowboys are trying to find him spot on the team.
None of the players could play where eberflus had them. Was a horrible defensive scheme

All I know is that Marist always has looked better playing forward than reverse. He has a little bit of a knack for getting to the QB, so I’m all for giving the guy a shot on the edge.

Crazier things have worked before.

I agree that an OLB in this scheme is probably his best shot, and that’s all he can ask for.

People mentioned it but his get off is just too slow.

They like the kid.

He showed more in 2024.

Eber barely called his name. 200 snaps.

6’ 2” 239. Long arms and 4.64 speed. He’s more ILB though.

But Over and Williams are the starters.

Has a better draft grade than Barham.

Likely leaves for UFA after 2027
Who the hell is Williams
