Per Clarence Hill, Span-Ford competing with Ferguson to be the starter?

It's VERY clear the Cowboys roster today is significantly better than it was at the end of last season.

Time will tell . Caleb Downs Malachi Lawrence Barham sure all premium picks plus Jalen Thomson hopefully Winters at LB plus Gary the ex Packer . That’s what I’m talking about churn the roster upgrades you make my point .

Now let’s see going into camp the offensive tackles tight ends back up RB the back up QB , you know let’s see guys compete for PT .

Start at this time: 4:55

Clarence Hill is nothing but a gaslighting blowhard, Anyone follows him on Twitter you would know why I'd say that.... It's sad as a Longhorn fan I have to deal with this blowhard..
that happen
Now that that's out of the way..

so right now, we're in OTAS There are a lot of veterans that are not even there, many working cords, there's nothing to see here... And by the way it's pretty vague and easy to assume.....

I Would imagine that most depth charts welcome competition and that there aren't very many slots that are 100 percent guaranteed on any team,

so yeah it's easy to be vague and just say things right now,

We'll see how it is coming out of camp, Real camp, You know the one where they wear pads and start hitting and actually covering and they're not running against air..

I realize these reports are all we have right now but Dan Campbell is correct,

Noone is winning anything at these pajama parties, nobody's winning anything at the look at me I'm in shorts...watch me workout against air..

He's more connected than you'll ever be

Ferguson fell victim to the Cowboy brand and his slight success. I think he should be cut to be honest. Whatever dawg he had in 2023 is gone
 :popcorn:I think some of you all need to be cut but you know I have no power here just like you have no power there and that's not happening that's absolutely insanely ridiculous...

We have one of the worst TE rooms in the league. I have never understood the hype for Lunda.
You can't exactly turn trash into stash in the NFL, bro. What talent did you see that Lunda squander? Oh wait. Tthat's right, we haven't had a real standout stud talent at TE, since Witten and Bennett.

He helped develp Dalton Shultz. He's gotten production out of JAGs like Ferguson (4th rounder) and UDFAs.

You could say, but he got a 2nd rounder, but Schoon was considered a reach (FO mistake) and that's been confirmed as he's a bust of a player who's also been injured quite a bit.

What game was it where his fumble absolutely killed us???
I don't remember but that's fair. He had a few of those. But I don't know him to be a fumbler so i'm giving him grace there but you are right. I was pissed when that happened.

He's more connected than you'll ever be
I mean like your zero credibility like anywhere including in here is that we're talking about? You're not connected either. Content creators around Facebook etc You're far more connected than you so don't talk about me that's my opinion about Clarence Hill and it's for good reason.... That's right you share a story coming from someone I don't like and I'm gonna tell you about it you tell me i'm not connected enough to challenge him i'm challenging you,

if you read his Twitter posts, shall I go over one real reason I don't like the guy,

It's not allowed in here but read his Twitter no he's horrible he's a blowhard I don't care where he's connected how long he's been around I don't like him I don't like Stephen A Smith and he's more connected than the blowhard I mean does Clarence Hill have his own ESPN big time show like Stephen A Smith do you think Stephen A Smith is a bow heart because I think some of us do we don't like him either and I don't like Clarence Hill because a lot of the content is not even sports related he guess likes people and all kinds of things we're not allowed to talk about in here...

So, if I don't like him, I'm going to tell you about it and I don't like him,

He's a gaslighting blowhard shall I say it again?

Kind of funny though guys like fish, Broadus, and Spags, Bigot trampled on in here but I say I don't like Clarence Hill and you somehow get offended like he has more clout than those guys no he doesn't.. I'd say the people who write for the Dallas Cowboys directly have far more connections to the Dallas Cowboys but none of y'all like what they say..

Oh yes, the hypocrisy in here I'm sorry that I told the truth about your boy and you get mad that's OK I still don't like Clarence Hill and you won't convince me otherwise.... By the way I tell him how I don't like him and I call him out all the time on Twitter 'cause I don't get scared to challenge ridiculous gaslighting stories much of which don't have anything to do with sports....

He's more connected than you'll ever be
And yes he's 100 times more connected than you too so what's your point i'm challenging your posts and you don't like it so that's your comeback i'm telling you that Ferguson isn't going to lose his job to Ford They'll be rotating like they always have maybe Ford will get a few more snaps but just because somebody has an opinion it doesn't mean I need to agree with it because all of these are opinions...

I don't remember but that's fair. He had a few of those. But I don't know him to be a fumbler so i'm giving him grace there but you are right. I was pissed when that happened.
I think people who don’t play ball don’t realize players go through rough patches, whether it’s a quarterback having a bad year and throwing more interceptions than usual, or a guy like Ezekiel Elliott in 2020 when everyone called him a fumbler. That was a rough year all around, and yes, he had more fumbles than ever, but guess what? It never happened again; he had just one fumble the next season.

He’s not a fumbler, never was. And sure, Ferguson had his issues holding onto the ball, just like CeeDee Lamb had games with costly drops. But are we going to drag in every player from last year who made mistakes? There was lack of blocking from the tackles, a horrible defense, and the biggest reason we lost, our defensive coordinator, who’s now gone.

It’s funny how guys get called out in these threads and act like their jobs are on the line over something that can definitely be fixed. Ferguson had an off year, partly due to injury, partly from adjusting to a new offense—and when the tackles don’t block well, it impacts tight end routes. They stay in to block more, run hot routes, and take shorter routes to be quick checkdowns. It all ties together, and sure, the offense was great last year, but calling out Ferguson is ridiculous. Yes, he needs to clean that up, but let’s keep it in perspective.

Some players didn’t directly cost us games, just like George Pickens having two balls bounce off him for interceptions in that same game. In the Lions game, a lot of guys just didn’t play well, and then there’s CeeDee Lamb, who seems to get thrown off by Green and drops a bunch of passes against the Eagles.

So sure, let’s call them all out. In fact, we could start a “call-out” thread for all players fans want to cut, just because they messed up. Every year, some fans decide they don’t like a guy anymore because of a fumble and want him gone.

But if we cut everyone who made mistakes, we wouldn’t even have a team next season.

Ferguson was third among tight ends in receptions (82), tied for third in TDs (8) and made the Pro Bowl. And he did it while only starting 10 games because of injury. Yes, he had some bad drops and fumbles and his yards were low for the number of catches he got, but we could do a lot worse than Ferguson as an outlet while we try to get the ball downfield to Lamb and Pickens.
This is misleading. He played in all 17 games. Just because he didn't start doesn't mean he didn't play a the majority of snaps. In week 14 against Detroit, for instance, he played a season-high 80% of offensive snaps despite not being a starter.

You simply can't have drops and fumbles when the majority of your targets are check downs. His yards/reception ranked 91 and his ADOT ranked 72.

You can do worse as a player, but for what he is paid, Ferg is poor value. What made him good originally was his ability after the catch, and that's disappeared.

I don’t think anyone is “handed” a job though. If Ferg sucks they will replace him. It’s a Not For Long league. You’re only as good as your last snap. Ferg is a good football player. I’m not entirely sure where the disdain is coming from.
That's not really true. They aren't going to cut Ferg this year and increase his cap hit no matter how bad he is.

That's the reality for most players around the league. For the most part, they don't get cut until it makes fiscal sense to do so, but it's especially true for Dallas.

Fergy has been the best TE in Dallas for a couple years. If he gets unseated it should be a positive thing. However how they use TE in this system wouldn't change so "fans" will quickly turn on them too.

He's not being unseated he's being challenged and if you heard the press conference which is the better post this one is not so good listening to some blowhard say that Ford could end up winning The starting job is just a giant guess..

The head coach has always The philosophy of don't get comfortable because we want to see competition at almost every position on the team so they want players to be pushed..

so yeah maybe Ferguson lose a few snaps to ford and that should be how it is.. But also Ford shouldn't get comfortable either what if this undrafted free agent Triggs pushes him..

I look forward to camp and preseason games when they start putting on pads going 7 on 7 11 on 11 and playing real scrimmages and real games wow live games I should say in preseason so we can see these inner battles.

Hell I could starting a post to saying my feelings in my gut say that I hope that Flournoy is so good he pushes George Pickens off the team next year..

That's fun for fans and it's better to be deep than top heavy and we haven't seen that in a very long time and I think that it needs to happen That's why I would have been OK with letting George Pickens be traded and getting another wide receiver in a draft and let Flournoy flourish, because without the snaps without being the real number two we'll never see when he can really be capable of because he's not going to get that many targets.

When I say cut him I don’t mean immediately. But could I see it next year? If he’s not playing well I could.

cut? no...I like the competition, but span-ford has to prove it in games not OTAs

its the typical grass is greener on the other side until we get there. same thing happened with Schultz. people wanted fergi over Schultz and fawned and awed...now, its span-ford

7 yards and a cloud of dust
yes, that is concerning, but I noticed something last year. with lack of trust in tackles, he was kept to help in blocking and only release after ala what we did with Johntson back in the day. more like a long hand off than anything else. couple of years ago, he averaged about 10...we need to get back to that and pressure the middle of the field defense with him. only, if we can trust our tackles. which I don't
