PFT: Dak; QBs are judged by winning that last game

I “think” that list includes Pro Bowls too. I count 14 All Pros but I stopped trying to read the tiny print off StatMuse
:laugh:I figured it was Pro Bowlers but I wasn’t exactly sure on CJ Goodwin or Ladoceur lol.

They struggled to even get to 29 Pro Bowlers lol. They considered Romo an all pro he played with lol.

We have to be careful on relying on AI it’s still heavily flawed lol.

Goodwin never made either, not sure why he is even mentioned.

I expected this sort of pushback the min I read his quote and I agree somewhat, especially on whether or not he deserved $60M a year. But this isn't anything new.......all fans I have read/heard agree he is overpaid, even his 100% hard rock supporters. Honestly, I don't blame him......it's Jerry who gave him the contract $5M more than the next highest. He could have made Dak the highest-paid QB at $56M rather than being lazy and standing his ground.

I'm not getting your Mahomes comparison...... many QBs were making more than him prior to his new extension ($64M), yet you are singling Dak out. You are smart enough to know the NFL QB market pay fluctuation is based on the next up generally becoming the newest, highest paid.

There are a few QBs on record who admitted ( Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Lamar to name a few ) their willingness to sign team-friendly deals. Dak, on the other hand, has always been all business. I think some of that thinking goes back 4 years as a starter playing on a 4th round rookie contract.

Either way, his career as a Dallas QB could come to an end by 2028 IMO.
Of course you don't blame him. you don't blame him for asking for the money you said 100% of supporters agree he doesn't deserve. Then it's not his fault he's 2-5 in playoff games. Not his fault we've won 14 games over last 2 seasons. None of it is his fault.

But the "near-MVP" award...and 2nd team all-pro...? ALL DAK.

You are judged by how you play in all areas at all times
BUT for a QB, Playoffs and big games are what people remember.
and in that area Dak simply has not played up to the money he is making. He is certainly not alone. Mahoomes and Stafford (somewhat) are about the only ones that you could say have earned theirs all the way.
Burrows too I guess but being with the Bungles is crippling anyway. Allen has turned it over too often when it mattered; Rodgers really is not as great as his rep; Stroudt has sucked. Goff has been meh; Mayes not enough yet to really judge.
AT LEAST those other QBs are competitive and it really is the team around them holding them back. We give Dak 2 all pros or let's say our D holds the other team under 20...

Doesn't matter. Dak is gonna choke. He either doesn't compete and keep up with the other team or he positively gives points away to the opposing team.

i think you give Jerry too much credit here. He got emotional.
Me give Jerry credit? Absolutely not. Jerry absolutely mishandled the Micah deal, so I wasn't exactly giving him credit as though he suddenly grew a pair. If it came across that way it wasn't my intent

Let's make one thing VERY CLEAR, the day Jerry passes I will be popping open a cold one.......... or six....... to celebrate the fact that the darkest period in Dallas Cowboys history will finally be over. Call me an unsympathetic arse - I don't care. Call me cold hearted - whatever, I will be sleeping just fine.

There are few things I have loved outside of my family throughout my life, and one of those things was the Dallas Cowboys. I've been a fan since 1975 and Jerry has been crapping all over my fandom for the past 32 years, which just happens to be more than half my life. These days I just say screw him. Some might miss him when he's gone but not me.

Damn. I don’t share the same hate but my hey day is the Campo years lol. You’re cold hearted for sure lol.

Prescott - says something pretty reasonable

Half of CZ - “wow. I hate this guy.”
You may have missed something. Half of CZ has hated Dak long before his latest stupid comments. Dak is simply stoking the fire by forgetting it's in his best interest to keep his mouth shut.

Yep, and I have no problem owning it. I'm sure you know I'm not the only person who feels this way about Jerry

Dak Prescott: Quarterbacks are judged by winning that last game

Published June 11, 2026 10:17 PM

“If you play this position — I’ve said it before — how you’re judged is winning that last game,” Prescott said this week, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “Anything other than that, you’re warranted to get [the criticism] because you’ve not won that game. If you’re not wired that way and if it’s not what pushes you, you should probably find a different job and a different position. I think we all feel the same and if I know those guys are like me, it’s an obsession.

“So, yeah, it’s about making sure that you give everything that you can to this team and give them the chance to do it.”
oh, this out to trigger the DDS Cult

it should be fun

If he can understand that he deserves the criticism that comes with the job, why can't his ardent supporters?
so you are pointing to the extremes. there are many who support dak, yet criticize what you just said. the extreme just doesn't
the exact opposite is also through of the extreme dak haters, who never ever no matter what happens will give him any credit, some going as far as saying, he doesn't belong in the league.

so the rest of us in the middle, slightly critical, slightly supportive get drowned out with the noises of the few in the extremes

It's days like this I miss members like @Mountanieercowboy. He was definitely one of those extremes. I imagine this thread would have been over a dozen pages by now if he were still around.

When Dak leaves you are gonna be just like the Romosexuals do with Romo and revise history and talk about how good he really was lol. Romo went from a solid qb who choked in the playoffs to Tom Brady and Dan Marino once he retired. They miss you when you gone lol.
And Dak is a solid qb who chokes in the playoffs. Romo has been gone 10 years. Move on already and stop bringing him up to defend Dak. Dak is a great regular season QB. His playoff performances are questionable at best. It should be put up or shut up and he never shuts up even if he won't put up. Is he capable of putting up in the playoffs? Sure, I think this past season shows he turned a corner and will deliver if given the opportunity, but he needs to put his money where his mouth is in the playoffs.

Stop baiting. Stop bringing up Romo to deflect. This is about Dak only. Romo couldn't get it done (no matter the reasons). Dak isn't getting it done (no matter the reasons.) Really as fans all we can do is hope the Cowboys make the playoffs and hope Dak did turn the corner and stops choking in the playoffs. I think he can do it. His regular season play recently was different against winning opponents and is encouraging. But he should just shut up and play until he actually stops choking in the playoffs.

when you look at some of those that have rings like Dilfer and Johnson and so on; and those that do not like Marino and Kelly and even Danny White, you cannot help but believe that luck has a significant part to do with it.
Look at Brees: just one appearance and one ring yet he is a sure fire HOF QB
He yearly had better stats then Eli Manning but he has only one ring
Jim Kelly went to four straight and only a missed FG kept him from getting a ring
its not luck, its the team around you. Dilfer had the benefit of the all time best, most dominant defense. they won 3 games in a row, scoring less than 10 points. but Dilfer gets the win!?

defense wins championships. Kelly was awsome. that offense had 3 HOFers. they failed against a team that had a better defense than theirs. Marino getting that team to sueprbowl, is all marino, but he couldn't overcome a team with huge weaknesses.

but there are few DDS cult members who called Marino a loser and Dilfer a winner and said, they would take Dilfer over Marino...the stupidity is astonuding
