Dak Prescott: Quarterbacks are judged by winning that last game

Published June 11, 2026 10:17 PM

“If you play this position — I’ve said it before — how you’re judged is winning that last game,” Prescott said this week, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “Anything other than that, you’re warranted to get [the criticism] because you’ve not won that game. If you’re not wired that way and if it’s not what pushes you, you should probably find a different job and a different position. I think we all feel the same and if I know those guys are like me, it’s an obsession.

“So, yeah, it’s about making sure that you give everything that you can to this team and give them the chance to do it.”
Prescott says the right thing ALL THE TIME. Problem is he rarely does the RIGHT thing on the field when the lights are bright and the competition is tougher than your average 4-9 team...

I think you took that post far more serious than you should’ve lol. I don’t think it warranted you feeling the need to defend Romo.

And respectfully if I want to post about Dak or Romo I can say whatever I want. Not sure why you feel you can control the narrative or tell people how to post but you’ve been here long enough to know that’s not gonna work.
How did I defend Romo in any way? I said he couldn't get it done. You (and a select few) always bring him up to either distract or troll. He's gone. Dak can stand or fall on his own merits and flaws. I'm just tired of the same freaking things being said when it in no way defends Dak or helps other than increasing the arguing. It's trolling at this point. It's been a decade. I can pretty much guarantee that not a single person (okay, maybe one: Mountaineer) hates Dak because he "stole" Romo's job. Dak earned the position. Some argue Romo would have done better in the playoffs in 2016, but that's silly. Dak wasn't the reason we lost. The defense was.

What all of that has to do with things a decade later though? It's ridiculous to keep bringing it up. I think you overvalue the effect of Romo losing his job to Dak has on people nowadays. But hey, I guess you do you. It's not funny, it's not helpful, and it certainly proves nothing. I respect you, I like you, but the constantly bringing up Romo any time someone criticizes Dak is not something I respect. Peace, brother.

And was the best qb on the field in the 2 he played setting Super Bowl records that only him and Tom Brady have.

Stats are for losers.
lol. No you really comparing him, Brady, and Mahomes.
If he doesn’t have Shaquan Barkley, they lose that last Super Bowl, and the ball should’ve been intercepted against the Patriots, the cornerback dropped it, cause that game was over too, Jalen hurts, LMAO

The guy is such a great leader!

He plays elite, this season he is going(!) to be even better.

But what i appreciate even more is that he seems to have so well-founded knowledge in every imaginable topic. And he is never shy to share his great wisdom with us.

I just wonder when he finds the time to read all those professional literature that is needed to build this profound understanding of things. Or is it just because he is a genie like Albert was? Latter seems to be natural the way he is able to read defenses and diagnoses coverages.

You just cant teach talent. The guy is a phenomenon!

Anyways...

Take me to school Dak. I please you!

I just can’t operate on omitting guys names from
My vocab or from my posts. I get certain words trigger but I bring both up because they are both the same guy. I get the stealing Romo’s job thing triggers. I didn’t go there.

And for the record that post wasn’t a knock Romo or hype up Dak post. Just a little back and forth with Coogi how when guys retire they get treated better than when they were playing.

Rumor out of Frisco is that the FO is considering a trade to aquire Sam Darnold.

Dont shoot the messenger, im currently Switzerland on this whole debate.

Darnold’s lobbying for the position along with Wentz.

I haven't pointed to any extremes. Dak's comment seemed very clear that he understands QB's are judged on winning the championship. Thereby, he knows criticism is coming his way until he does. Yet his few ardent supporters think no criticism should ever be voiced against him. Odd they can't handle it as well as the guy being criticized.
You just criticized one of the extremes you disagree with. Yet in the same.comment you say you are not pointing to extremes.

I think his comments are clear, either I win the last game or I will be judged harshly.

The other extreme will.never ever give Dak.any credit. Never. If by chance he wins the last game, they will criticize him for both having won 5 already and give credit to everybody else.

Has a lot to do with it, you're being paid to be the leader and are the best player, you better knock some heads and get everyone together on one accord
That's Gen Z for you. Money=leadership

QBs by default become leaders, because they have the highest impact on offense and ina offe give league they get criticized and get credit sometimes unfairly.

I separate contracts from leadership.

Manning was the leader of his team his second year, but not highest paid. Lewis was leader of Ravens, but not highest paid.

You don't necessarily pay leaders. You pay market value to a player based on perceived ability and value to the team.
