Thats different. If he pulls those antics then hes chopping off his own nose to spite his face. He'd be spoiling any chance he had of getting a long term deal here. It would be dumb. Micah did this because hes immature and wanted to be in GB. This doesn't feel like that situation. I think it will all work out. He has millions of reasons to be participating.
Honestly speaking, would it really be a dumb move? In a way, i agree with you on that, but if Pickens did pull that stunt, I couldn't blame him, and here's why...
Let's say Pickens played on that tag and God forbid, tears a hamstring or ACL/MCL, how is he going to get that max deal then? He would be damaged goods for a couple of seasons without a guaranteed contract.
Who would give him the contract while "rehabing" and sitting on IR? If he doesn't get injured, what guarantees do he have that he won't be tagged again after this season with another franchise tag to play on again without a guaranteed max deal for the second time?
If Jerry can do that to Dak twice and thats his quarterback, what makes you think he won't do that to a receiver?
I love the Dallas Cowboys to the core and as much as I would hate to see it, I would not blame Pickens at ALL for sitting out for his contract or doing bare minimum to try and better protect himself until he gets a contract. These owners try to get the most out of players for least amount of money most times and i understand that its business, but that **** ain't cool.
With that said, if Pickens held out and never played another down for the Cowboys, he would absolutely get paid the contract he desires elsewhere in the NFL. Jerry isn't the only owner with money.
