The House That Jack Built: 8/10

Great performance by Matt Dillon. The movie is about a serial killer. It has a lot of dark humor, which I found hilarious. Not a lot of gore, but some pretty gruesome terms. The ending kind of sucked, but I liked the rest of the movie.

Normally a type of movie I like but for whatever reason this one just did not work for me.



Going in hoping it will be something like Contact or Arrival, the one with amy adams not the arrival with charlie sheen. But this movie just misses the mark. Interesting but just not in the same league as those two.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

It does not deviate from the series. That kept the story fun, although it was a bit more outlandish than usual for the show. Of course, Grogu gets more than his share of the spotlight in the movie, so it makes sense.

Enjoyed the Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars character tie-ins. Any Dave Filoni project will stay faithful to the animation part of the franchise.

One thing is practically certain with this franchise. There will be some modified version of The Trench Run anytime you see some X-Wings and Y-Wings flying together during a scene, lol.

Master of the Universe - Went and saw the new He-Man movie this evening and......I really liked it. It was a very enjoyable watch, with all the right amounts of cheesiness and comedy sprinkled throughout, each landing at just the right moment. Sure, the lore taps directly into my childhood nostalgia, but I still stand by the fact that it was simply a fun movie.

Master of the Universe - Went and saw the new He-Man movie this evening and......I really liked it. It was a very enjoyable watch, with all the right amounts of cheesiness and comedy sprinkled throughout, each landing at just the right moment. Sure, the lore taps directly into my childhood nostalgia, but I still stand by the fact that it was simply a fun movie.

Same. It’s a really hard needle to thread, because the show was so corny, and they pulled it off. It ran a little too long for my taste, but they kept the pace up. I took my 12 year old niece and she loved it.

Steven Spielberg rarely disappoints. He didn't this time either. The story moves smoothly from start to finish. The dialogue is great without revealing in-depth details until the very end.

Emily Blount delivers throughout. Colin Firth wasn't really menacing, but was an effective villain. His right-hand man was kinda wonky towards the end, but he does not hurt the movie's outcome as shown. The same goes for Blount's main co-protagonist's girlfriend. She was somewhat shallow, but she's not a distraction in any scene.

The movie was worth the wait for me. Time for a new, albeit what will be a briefly used, avatar.

Nope. Even the special effects pale by comparison to that classic.

Has the budget. Visually it will keep you interested in many things. However it is just one of those movies that just should have been so much better but fail short.



Good little sci fi Korean action movie. It lacks in some areas but if you like sci fi action with a little comedy...it is actually pretty good even though it was never famous. Although the robot in it kind of looks like the one in rogue one and



Kind of meh. But the variation of the sizes of the aliens are kind of cool.

Not the best but for whatever reason I like this movie. Have watched it multiple times. Sam Tolley has some good humorous scenes.

No. Out of the theater, I'd give it a 6/10 or so. Thinking on it more, I'm closer to a 4/10 now.

It's really a huge nothingburger. Technically proficient, with good performances, but a completely hollow script.

Have not watched it yet.

However in my mind this movie would be closer to Contact or Arrival instead on close encounters of the third kind.

It's really just a chase movie (with some really nonsensical parts). The alien aspect of it really doesn't amount to much of anything.

A friend of mine, who goes to the movies a lot, went to see this movie and didn't like it. He said it was disappointing for Spielberg. I suppose to each his own.

Not surprising. Moviegoers have varied tastes and expectations. For instance, a quick read of RottenTomatoes.com reveals reviews as bad or worse about DD and/or Steven Spielberg's direction. Plus, I would say it is a healthy percentage who came away with that same negative impression from the little that I scanned a few days ago.

Some held an opposing opinion. I'm one of those. It is probably less problematic for anyone to simply go with their gut about a movie and not put much weight into others' assessments--whether they be paid critics or not. Everyone knows the kind of entertainment they like or love.

For some reason I got into a shark movie block. Watched one, it brought up you may like and so I went on a few. Non of these are as good as Jaws...or even the first Deep Blue Sea, which i think is underrated.



It is watchable...but it is pretty bad because of so many reasons. The bad guy and his reasoning is idiotic. The young sister out on the ocean in a bikini who has skin whiter than a virgin snow fall. She would be burnt to a crisp. The stretches of things to make some things nonviable. The one airhead girl knowing exactly where to go to find a specific item. The whole side story of the couple who just gets married even though they no longer want to be together....Just so many things that makes you roll your eyes. But if you like shark movies..go for it.



This one has some issues but still far superior to the other one IMO. I told the mother in law that this is the type of movie she would like. She has liked the airplane fiasco type movies and this combines that with the crash in the water causing a mass of sharks. 4



Another one that is kind of silly. But at least the bad guy in this one is more believable than the one from the Chum movie. Overall a better movie than chum but again still not great.



WWII wreckage on the water and sharks. Something that did help to various soldiers/sailors at times during the war. It is a smaller budget movie but probably my favorite of the bunch but to be fair I love WWII movies so that is a bonus for me.

Good stuff. As always, they have the magic formula of catering to kids but with enough humor sprinkled in to entertain adults.
