Lawrence Taylor top 3 NFL greatest RBs

Barry definitely had more more skills in the elusive department. Quickness, direction change, acceleration.

I think we can probably appreciate both styles, no reason to fight about it. but as a fan...devoted loyal fan...I'll take Emmitt. So sue me!
"Devoted loyal fans" can still acknowledge Barry was the better runner. Not sure everyone recognizes that.

there is a difference between being the better RUNNER and the better RUNNING BACK
Emmitt was that

Jim Brown played for 9 seasons of 12-14 games.

Barry Sanders played for 10 seasons.

Emmitt Smith played for 15 seasons.

Emmitt had 11 thousand yard seasons and 3 others with over 900 yards.

Jim Brown played in 118 regular season games and 4 playoffs where he averaged 3.7 yards a carry and scored 1 TD.

Barry Sanders played in 153 regular season games and 6 playoffs where he averaged 4.2 yards a carry and scored 1 TD.

Emmitt Smith played in 226 regular season games and 17 playoffs where he averaged 4.5 yards a carry and scored 19 TDs.

Durability counts.

Performance in the most meaningful games count.

If Emmitt's numbers are the results of the offensive line then someone kindly explain to me why the Cowboys went 0-2 during his 1993 holdout and Derrick Lassic averaged 3.6 yards a carry.

Nor do they have to.

I noticed you said "better runner"...not better RB. Not the same thing...VERY clever! And I said above likely true!

I thought the question referred to runningbacks and not "runners".

A runningback is called upon to do far more than just carrying the ball.

Emmitt Smith was a great blocker, protected Aikman well in the pocket when called upon to do so.

I don't recall Sanders or Brown being noted for doing so.

Both Emmitt and Barry had similar receiving numbers. Brown had far less in a different era where they didn't throw the ball much to RBs.

As far as championships and playoffs, Emmitt is on a different plateau and if you think that playoff success and the quality of their running game is mutually exclusive then we are wasting each other's time.

Both Barry Sanders and Jim Brown were great runningbacks but to what end? What did they do for their teams and what did those teams accomplish?

Devoted fans know the game of football is about helping your team win in any way that you can while playing the RB position.

Is there any other RB in NFL history that did a better job of that than Emmitt Smith? The proof is there for all to see.

That’s your opinion and nothing more. They were very different but no one can definitely say one was better than the other. Stop being a barrystan. Lol

Like I said, these are the lengths folks need to go to on behalf of the league's all-time leading rusher. The all-time leading rusher and this is the defense job that's needed? There's a reason for that, y'all. Runner, running back, I meant the same thing. The main job on the field is to run. There are more responsibilities, of course, but it's not called "running" back for nothing.

very limited understanding of the difference between running and back

But why are you cherry picking just ONE thing? You said "enjoy health"....and I fully agreed with that.

If you're going out to protect your stats, I'm not in on that.

I do not know what Barry's motivation was...I'm simply giving an opinion on the subject matter.

I hope this clears things up for you.
you tried to claim you did not mention the word cowardly
I called you out and you still run from admitting it

The data shows what the data shows. And even beyond the data there's the eye test that folks know where the advantage lies. Injecting hair splitting on behalf of one on top of all that is telling is all I'll say.

Running...is of course the MAIN thing...but not the ONLY thing. There are other very important aspects too....and ALL of them should be considered whan talking about a RB.

So....if you want to make your point clear, maybe take more care in what you type. We can;t read your mind.

You keep using hair splitting and gymnastics as if you have zero regard for what words mean...about the same understanding as all the skills of a RB.

I never claimed that. You go ahead and show everyone what you're talking about.

I am saying I said several things....and for the THIRD time

But you STILL run from admitting it. What's the deal bro. You good? I'm worried...you're like...I dunno.... weird.

I read somewhere he was mentally/emotionally cooked.......but fine physically
Yes. That doesnt contradict what i said.

If you are emotionally not willing anymore to do what is needed in the offseason to be in shape then you also feel that you cant play on a level you demand from yourself.

Remember thats Barry Sanders talking not Romo playing golf in the offseason showing up embarissingly overweight to TC. Or this ridiculous blatherer we sport as our #1 QB, who will tell us every year how great he will be then laying egg after egg.

No, this is Barry Sanders: a guy who is serious about his sport. A kind of player i understand younger Cowboys fans just cant grasp emotionally in a-social media days thats build on the foundation of shallow useless talk from people who else would have to sleep under the bridge.

A player who doesnt talk crap all day of how good he could be an all that stuff but produces on a high level? Come on somethings wrong here! We know better. JJ told us so.

Oldschool values.

People like conspiracy theories around here so what if the OLine was sandbagging it to support Emmitt? What if the entire offense was? They get blown out at Washington scoring 16 (committing 4 fumbles) and then score the fewest points in a game all year (10) against Buffalo in Game 2 (while committing 4 fumbles and 2 INTs by Troy).

COINCIDENCE ??????
