You know sometimes these guys are necessary I'm not sure he makes the team or not but he reminds me a little of Carl Lawson who was belittled when the Cowboys pick him up But he actually played well enough that when the Cowboys released him some fans were A little bit upset..

The Cowboys in my opinion and I may be wrong their goal is to build their defense with depth No top heavy single point of failure superstars but like Seattle and New England have a lot of guys that can give you a handful of sacks give you pressures work hard I hear this guy's an effort guy He's one of those dudes they call a dawg when he's playing, No one's expecting much from guys like this but if you could fit into the defense and your defensive coordinator likes you and wants guys like this.. go get them

So, it can't hurt if he makes the team has some depth for rotation,

I mean the guys got experience his numbers were not all that bad I know people are gonna look at this as a camp body and another cheap guy that Jerry brought in, but again there's been other names that have rolled through here that were just going to be for depth and they did their job very well.

So, I'll follow it up with no expectations for me but why not have a bunch of tryouts in camp in positions of need to see where we can build depth at...

Typical coog response for a guy who would be brought in for a possible depth piece, but the fact that he came from another team, he's been on other teams and yet oh it must be a Cowboys move oh no it's a move that most teams make this time of year And he may make the team as a fringe guy and a rotational piece but somehow you always have to take a shot so expect a shot back,

They signed him to the practice squad after seeing what he could do at camp, which is exactly what camp is for, finding hidden gems.

We’ve had guys like that surprise us before, making the 63-man roster and sometimes even getting called up to the 53. It might seem like low-hanging fruit to some, but it’s necessary depth, especially since these players often come from other teams. This isn’t a rookie, we’re talking about someone with nine starts last year and nine the year before with the Raiders, plus experience with other teams. This is a league-wide practice, not just a Cowboys thing, and churning the bottom of the roster has been around since the Jimmy Johnson days.

Camp bodies aren’t new, but occasionally you find that guy. Rumor has it this one might have already hit his ceiling, but he’s still a tough, physical, high-effort rotational piece.

Do I think he makes the team?

I have no idea,

but mocking these kind of moves when they're being made by the entire league it makes no sense to me you all can keep it up without championship blah blah blah Super Bowl here we come blah blah blah right keep your 1995 football dad jokes to yourself.

There isn't a practice squad during the offseason.

But signing a guy that has a handful of sacks the last couple years in a backup role is hardly a worthless signing as some people are making this out to be.
 
In the offseason Charles lives in the Himalayas training sherpas to be better sherpas.

He’s a camp body at a position that can always use help and competition .

Clowney has been on 6 teams in the last 7 years. There’s got to be something to that. Also, our defense this year will be more similar to what Clowney played with Carolina in 24 under Ejiro Evero. I would guess either Clowney wasn’t a fan of that defensive style or CP saw stuff on film he didn’t like.
