Signed by Cowboys Cowboys Signing DE Charles Snowden

Clowney has been on 6 teams in the last 7 years. There’s got to be something to that. Also, our defense this year will be more similar to what Clowney played with Carolina in 24 under Ejiro Evero. I would guess either Clowney wasn’t a fan of that defensive style or CP saw stuff on film he didn’t like.
Clowney has played in 3-4 defenses before and done well with it, so I don't think him not being re-signed is a product of that. I would bet it has to do more with asking price or Clowney not wanting to go through preseason. He had 8.5 sacks last year and from all accounts was probably our best overall DL. Yet no team has signed him. So I'd say that's most likely by his choice either in his salary demands or not wanting to go through the rigors of camp.

Here's what he had to say about scheme:

“I done played in every scheme, ain’t no scheme I can’t play in, 3-4 to 4-3 to whatever damn scheme that you had,” Clowney told Wilson. “I think I done proved that I can play in them all and not just play in them, but also dominate in them schemes and do my job at a high level. I just came off a great season, looking forward to doing it again and, you know, continue to prove to people and show the balance.
“They know I’m available. I walk in every year and play well on every scheme and every team I’ve been on. I want to continue to do that going into year 13. Showing people wrong and proving that I can still play at a high level. It don’t matter where I end up, where I play at, just know I’m coming to show you again and prove people wrong again.”

I would have applauded the team if it had re-signed Clowney in addition to trading for Gary and in place of bringing back Sam Williams. Of course, Clowney would have cost quite a bit more than Williams, which is likely the reason it did not occur.

“It’s real hard when you look at how Clowney came on last year and the snaps he gave us,” Jerry Jones said, via video from Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It’s real hard not to have a place there for Clowney, but you can’t have it all. You just can’t have it all. If things go right for us, we’ve already made a signing. We’ve made trades. We think that’s the better way to go.”

OK now do the other 31 teams!!

I mean people do this , ridicule Jerr,y ride him, say they're being cheap and stupid,

and then I don't know, isn't he still a free agent, Has he made any roster, did he get picked up by any of the other teams as well,

because some of y'all just don't see how ridiculous some of the posts are if somebody would have picked them right up snatched them up, took them away from the Cowboys,

Then we can talk But he is going to sit until somebody needs him and most of us thought it would be around training camp mor after before the Cowboys even considered it....

Be blatantly honest here about three weeks before the draft there was a big free agent list of defenders like Von Miller and Clowney but others we talked about other linebackers other pass rushers 90% of that list is still left that was three weeks before the draft and the same guys are still available Therefore the Cowboys are not moving differently as far as being too slow to act it seems like it's all been in a holding pattern since people built up their 90 players for camp and now we'll see after camp where they stand and more guys will probably be brought in as well as many be cut...

Let me know if I said anything that's untrue because there's plenty of guys even if they want to pick up another linebacker didn't we talk about like Okereke or wagner..ALL STILL THERE!!

Know what this tells me most teams are moving the same way right now they want to get through camp they'll all figure out who they want off this list and there's plenty to choose from that are all very similar no rush at all..

I mean I remember that guy the Cowboys were allegedly supposed to trade for with the Colts you remember this guy guess what still there..

Kenny Moore II no longer plays for the Indianapolis Colts. The team officially released the veteran cornerback on May 7, 2026, after mutually agreeing to seek a trade. Moore is now a free agent.

Several prominent veteran defensive players remain available on the NFL free-agent market. Because there are hundreds of unsigned players across the league, these top free-agent defenders include some of the most notable names on the board: [1, 2, 3]

EDGE Rushers / Defensive Ends
  • Joey Bosa
  • Jadeveon Clowney
  • Cameron Jordan

Defensive Linemen / Tackles
  • Shelby Harris
  • DJ Reader

Safeties
  • Justin Simmons
  • Donovan Wilson

Cornerbacks
  • Stephon Gilmore
  • Marshon Lattimore

Linebackers
  • Matt Milano
  • Bobby Wagner
  • Okereke
  • Devin White

You could make a decent defense from those available guys.

Cam Jordan re-signed with the saints, DJ Reader & Shelby Harris both signed with the giants. Justin Simmons retired as a Bronco.

Well I pulled that list off just to make a point about the pass rush and a linebackers which are all still available it's not my fault the list is not up to date but the rest of that still holds true... That you can blame Google not me I said list all the leftover free agents on defense and they pulled up the top names...

So yes linebackers and pass rushers those are still all available I know that for a fact..

Not sure the purpose of this. I simply quoted what Clowney had to say about what scheme he can play in and what Jerry said about re-signing him.

Beat everything your replies people replying to you saying the Cowboys are stupid for not bringing it back and I'm just reporting the fact that he's still a free agent and he still could be brought back.. Yes Jerry's been known to say things and then go back on it I've seen the quotes also saying he would never trade Micah Parsons..

He reserves the right to change his mind once he sees what happens in camp and preseason and they'll probably bring a couple of players in where they feel they need a veteran presence if there's a weakness...
