PFT: Dak, making the postseason in 2026 is the minimum

With all of the bold changes the Cowboys have made throughout this offseason, it's only fitting that the postseason should be successfully granted. Of course, a win or two there could truly be the frosting on the cake. With a significantly better defense, Dak may be somewhat obliged to see to it that it happens. As I recall, he recently made that apparent in his own words that were publicly printed. Go for it, sir. ;)

Trivia time: the Philadelphia Eagles' Chris Long has been the only player to win back-to-back Good Guy Awards from the Professional Football Writers of America in that category (2018 and 2019).
The Over vs Under debate

There is an ongoing cultural debate over how the paper should hang on the holder. The most recommended practices include:

The Beard....the paper hangs down in front of the roll

Or

The Mullet......the paper hangs behind the roll.

I'm definitely on the Over side.

Mullet in most cases.

So one day, Revel will be a real CB, the next day Dak wants to at least make the postseason. 3.5 days before that, it's up to Q to do his part, our QB will do the rest, all on his own itty-bitty....good times!

Nothing wrong with what he said, it is realistically the minimum.
Shotty keeps talking the SB when he should be saying lets win the division.
I think being a wildcard is the hardest road, much easier if you win the division.

Setting that bar low eh?
Haven’t made the playoffs the last two years.

I would say making the playoffs is the goal. Depending on how the defense is playing, winning the division or advancing to the divisional round would be a good result.

The defense has been so bad, expecting NFCG is pure hopium

The minimum SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE PLAYOFFS.
Actually, the division TITLE should always be the minimum.
The Cowboys longest divisision title streak was five games in the early 90s

Winning more than that requires not only a dynastic team but also playing in a garbage division where even the second best teams struggle to get above .500 (AFC East for Pats, AFC West for Chiefs)

Interestingly, this is hardly mentioned in discussing these two teams' success, especially the Pats.
The AFC East was horrendous.

Cowboys, own the east,
It’s only six games,
That’s not why they make it to the playoffs or the Super Bowl, the Patriots
They just overall a better organization

And the NFC East during Dak’s career. Obviously, having a two time SB winning team, that has the best GM in the league, makes things a bit more difficult than going up against a division full of Jets and Raiders

If you don’t think being in a division full of the worst teams in the league doesn’t help get to the with the SB, i don’t know what to say.

Both the Pats and the Chiefs had home field throughout and byes in week one almost every every year and that was built on the backs of their craptacular divisions.

The Cowboys haven’t “owned the East”, as the stats above show.

No, I don’t, I think it has to do with the overall schedule, division games are always tough. Forget the record. Take New England, for instance, look at the won lost record against the division,
Not the won lost record in general

The stats above are against the league, not just the east

Thanks for bringing that up

Tom Brady compiled an astonishing 90-22(.804) regular-season record against the AFC East. This unmatched divisional dominance propelled New England to an incredible run, securing 17 AFC East division titles

So, yeah, “divisional games are always tough” isn’t always borne out by facts.

As a point of comparison

Dak vs Commanders: 13-2
Dak vs Giants: 14-3
Dak vs Eagles: 10-5

37-20 (.787)
