A familiar pattern has developed over the last seven years with Dak

Yeah, he was knocked around a lot last year. It was the second most hits in his career (2019 - 57 hits)

QB hits taken 2025

56 hits are less than one hit a quarter. He was 2nd in the league in pass attempts too. Makes sense he would get more hits. Don't forget, Dak is 6'2" 230 lbs.

in a vacuum that seems like a lot but in context, he like Romo are not known to throw the ball away also the more you pass the more you are likely to get hit. But over all getting hit on around 40% of pressures seems to be the norm no matter the QB. what I saw, he had less time to throw than most

From what I saw, he had less time to throw than mast QBs and a full quarter second behind guys like Allen and Purdy.

He got hit more but was actually sacked much less than lots of other QBs as well. He's just stronger than most QBs.

Where are you getting that 40% number? From what I’ve seen it’s actually much less than half that. Dak was hit on leas than 13% of his dropbacks and he was fifth in total hits received. Maybe im missing a good stat site, but I couldn’t find any site listing more than 20%.

Dak does so many things well and last year, he did them at an elite level. He just can’t win the big games which is a bad stat for sure.

Going by the chart you showed he was getting hit on around 40% of all pressures. So 56 hits on 142 pressures. TBH I think JG taught both Dak and Romo to hang in as long as possible and never to throw it away. I would imagine if Dak or Romo threw the ball away more the hits and subsequent injuries would be less frequent.

I thought that might be part of it too but here are some interesting stats for the other most prolific passers

My bad, I didn’t catch that you were doing hits to pressures.

I was was commenting on attempts to hits.

Hits to pressures. Is a reflection of how often a QB avoids a hit.

Hits to throws is a better reflection of offensive line play, although pressures to throws would also be valuable

I "blame" the CBA and NFLPA and the scrutiny over player long term health to a lot of the caution today.
Certainly. But that staff pulled off miracles. I don't remember the name of the doctor back then but that stuff ended when he left.

That time to throw stat is on the QB and/or the play design. Purdy and especially Allen extend plays a lot. Dak is more of a pocket passer who hangs on to the ball.

Pretty mixed results. The old guys seem to get hit the most, if anything.

I would also put a lot of the hits on the defense. When playing with a lead you are less likely to be looking for that long slow developing pass play you would be moving the chains and trying to run more.

True but listen to players from that era many were given things you cannot give them today.

What does that have to do with the expertise of the training staff?
Training staff should be making sure these guys know how to, and do stretch properly. Also this training staff seems to be uber aggressive on injury returns. Look at Diggs and Gallup, recovery for those injuries are just as much mental as they are physical.

To be fair, Romo was in the era of refs letting Defense tee off on QBs.

To be fair, it was anti-Cowboys bias that is a part of the NFL ref culture. They certainly didn't let defenses tee off on all QBs, especially Brady and Rodgers. I remember somebody, perhaps Sturm, who ran the numbers and found that Brady was over 2000% more likely to get a roughing call than Romo was.

Right...I was gonna mention that but last second decided to not go there. Totally true!

Totally pile drive Romo right in front of the ref...and nothing. Except a broken collar bone.

Jerry has always done this. I agree with you about rushing players back. Dez and Zeke and Diggs are prime examples. But so was Emmit.
