Today I learned that Jason Garrett was a better head coach than Bill Parcells.

Hayes' speed revolutionized how NFL defenses had to play him .. thus zone coverage defense.

Very good list. Agree with most of the nice work you have done.
A few of my disagreements:

OLBs: HOFer Chuck Howley has to be higher than Hollywood Henderson and Dexter Coakley. I loved Hollywood but he was only here 5 years. Coakley only played in two playoff games his whole career here. Howley was SB MVP and played in nearly a dozen playoff games.

S- Cornell Green has to be higher than Charlie Waters and Roy Williams. Green was a 3 time first team All Pro and was on the Cowboys 25 year anniversary team. Green was a cornerstone of the Original Doomsday.

Wow dude! I’m impressed. Nice research. I grew up watching Danny White and don’t remember one punt. I guess when you don’t care about kickers, especially punters, that happens.

AI gave me the punting yards and total points. I can’t imagine how tedious it would be to count those yards and it’s not a stat you see at football reference

Punter is like QB in that judging across eras is really difficult.

Back in the day, coaches asked punters to do different things . Hang time used to be a timer on screen for every punt as most punts were returned and giving the coverage teams time to get under them.

Now punters go for distance and direction and fair catches happen far more often.

So, all the new next gen stats would favor a guy like Anger because what’s considered important has changed.

One other cool note is the fake punt. Danny probably had more fake punts than anyone in NFL history. He was always a threat to throw it and did so quite successfully.

Imagine if teams had to account for Anger throwing a thirty yard pass every time he took a snap.

Can you explain why Herschel over Zeke? IMO Herschel was in the Bo and Vick category of their reputations far exceeded what they ever did on the football field
