Some of Tony's issues were self inflicted. Brady hardly ever left the pocket. Different rules in and out of the pocket.

I think Emmitt did it because it was expected during that era. That was the Era where you could get Gippered. Not to mention Emmitt had a goal and plan and he could not do it from the trainers table.
 
Romo received 0.075 roughing calls per game.

Aaorn Rodgers: 0.175

Patrick Mahomes: 0.238

Tom Brady: 0.138

Romo got jobbed on the regular by the refs as did the Cowboys. This was during the same era when seemingly nobody ever held the Cowboys Defensive players according to the refs. Even had a streak of 8 games where opponents didn't get called for any holds.

Emmit was lucky that his lower body injuries were pulled muscles and not ligaments. But all those guys were driven. Emmit obviously took that to another level.
 
Can we all just pause for a brief moment and reflect on the greatness of Dak and everything he has done for this franchise during his tenure as the starting QB?

Site I found says he averaged 2.4 seconds of pocket time, which was the same as most of the top QBs (Drake Maye, Matthew Stafford, etc.). Josh Allen and Caleb Williams averaged 2.5 and Jared Goff 2.3. It seemed to me that we were using Ferguson as an outlet to get the ball out of Prescott's hands if the production broke down before he could get it to our two star receivers.

That doesn't mean the tackles did a great job protecting him, but the team did a decent job of buying him just as much time as other QBs.

That is the problem with having an older QB. The wear and tear gets difficult to overcome ... unless you're Tom Brady. Dak clearly isn't the runner that he once was because of the injuries he's endured and that can be a detriment at times.

Seems true to me. Your comment made me got to his draft report and I found this:
  • Good mobility
  • Can pick up yards on the ground
Which I think he did for several years with good results and an asset on offense. Now...not so much. He built his whole career on it...so losing even part of it has to hurt us.

Reading the rest of those reports was a little shocking...how much they've held up over the years.

Young legs that haven't been damaged make a difference. It causes QBs to take too many chances, which is what Washington and the Giants are dealing with right now, but also puts a lot of stress on defenses. Dak can still escape for yards, but if he's going to stay upright, he can't afford to put himself in contact situations much and he doesn't have the same mobility he had. Running is a last resort now instead of a weapon.

Protection, not production. Sometimes these fingers have a mind of their own.
