Equal responsibility to all three entities involved.

The league for creating and promoting the conditions.
The players for accepting the conditions.
You and I for cheering it all on.
 
Its my understanding CTE cannot be diagnosed until the invidual has passed away. 24 years old with Stage 1 CTE, pretty much all these guys have it then imo and im not talking just about football.

Yeah, that’s the issue, they say u can ONLY diagnose it on autopsy (not sure why MRI won’t show SOMETHING). There’s so so so so so many players who live good lives after ball through, they are willing to take the risks with the game.

They can’t do it yet, but they’re getting close to be able to diagnose CTE before death. Just a matter of time.

Stage 1 CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) is the mildest form of this progressive, neurodegenerative brain disease caused by repetitive head impacts. Symptoms are often intermittent and can include headaches, difficulty concentrating, loss of attention, mild depression, irritability, and short-term memory deficits. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Key Details of Stage 1 CTE
  • Physical Pathology: In Stage 1, the gross brain appears relatively normal, but abnormal deposits of a protein called tau begin to form near small blood vessels, most commonly in the frontal and lateral cortices. [1, 2]
  • Age of Onset: Symptoms typically appear 8 to 10 years after repetitive mild traumatic brain injuries. Because the early signs are mild and mimic common psychological or lifestyle issues, they are often dismissed or misdiagnosed. [1]
    • Diagnosis: Currently, a definitive diagnosis of CTE can only be made post-mortem by examining brain tissue. However, institutions like the Boston University CTE Center are researching diagnostic tools for living patients

I do think the nfl tries to do stuff about CTE it’s just only so much one can do. You have players who think CTE is a myth. You can’t really help those guys.

Don't think for a second that the NFL isn't aware that alcohol/gambling advertising doesn't fuel the addictions each of these cause. Now, I will admit that it's industry-wide, not just an NFL issue, but the reality is that Professional Sports is all about the $$$, no matter who gets trounced in the end. If I am wrong, why will Vegas soon have exposure in every Pro Sports league?
 
At this point they all know what they are getting in to now. It's not unknown anymore.

That's why we see more early retirements than we used to. It's the old school players who should get more support. They had no clue back in the day and the league is rich enough to take care of those guys IMO..The way Mike Webster and some of the others lived after football was a crime.

No ones begging you to be a fan. Find something else more palatable to your liking to be a fan of if it bothers you so much.

I’m not disagreeing with you. NFL had no choice. There were billions being made on their product and they didn’t have their hand in it. I just don’t hold them responsible. Gambling and addiction was always gonna occur with or without the nfl.

You think so? Don’t they kind of go hand in hand? The league does a lot of stuff for depression. Especially the players. Dak on the field is what gets mostly talked about but his work with players mental issues is there.
 
Definitely glad I quit playing football after junior high. In the end, if they don't find a solution for CTE (that seems far fetched), that could doom the game all together.
