Wilson looked good. His jumper looks a lot more fluid than I expected. Defensively, he was active in passing lanes and some nice blocks. Loved the aggressive attitude in looking for his shot. Plenty of mistakes, but he hasn’t played since February.

Essengue looked rough for a majority of the game. Expected that since he missed most of last year due to injury. He’s 19, also. But he got more comfortable in the 4th and had 4 or so blocks. He needs reps.

Swaim looked good when driving to the basket. Looked rough otherwise. I’m fine with the decision of getting him reps bringing the ball up but it’s terrible decision to not have a true PG on the roster because you want to run sets.

Overall - pleased with what I saw for a first summer league game.

I fully disagree with this guy.



#1 It's way to early to judge any player based off 1-2 summer league games. If the league judged Wemby/Flagg with their first game they would have been riding the bench the whole year.
#2 Yaxel and his summer league team already played 1-2 more games before the Mavs summer team got to play their first. This gave his team a pretty good advantage going into lasts nights game.
#3 Yaxel is almost 24 while Morez is 20. Morez fits the time-line of Cooper Flagg best while Yaxel fits Golden State.
#4 Morez had just as a good game than Yaxel last night while Morez team was playing at a disadvantage.
#5 Morez has more room for growth overall that Yaxel.

This may be an underrated pickup; these euro dudes generally always know how to step in and contribute.

My Warriors are old. They needed a player that can help now not later.

Yaxel fits their needs as a plug and play while Morez needs further development.

The Dubs are still trying to compete while the Mavs are in rebuild mode.

Both teams had different needs and the choices they made in the 1st round reflect that.

Warriors are closer to the Mavs than they are the Thunder or Spurs. So I get going for the older player but at some point they need to start thinking of time after Steph.

Yeah it’s for sure Paul George. Clippers traded away a dynasty for Paul George. Luka was stupid and belongs in the top 5 but the SGa trade to me is equivalent to the Hershel Walker deal in the NBA.
