I genuinely must ask the question. After Parcells retired, why didn't we hire Marty? I genuinely appreciate Wade, and I do think Wade was a decent enough coach. However, I think Marty would have made a much better replacement. Especially since he has just been to the division round the year before only to lose to the Pats, I think he would have been a better choice if given the option. Obviously, it's not like anyone could have known then that we hired his son about 20 years later. Still, I do think Marty with Romo would have made a much more logical transition. And I think, with what Marty was able to do with a younger Phillip Rivers, I do think Marty could have won us a SB. I genuinely think that style of WCO would have been perfect for Romo. And, if the plan was for Garrett to later succeed him, wouldn't Marty have given Garrett a good coach to be under? I think Wade was a good coach, but I think, in hindsight, Marty to Garrett would have been a more logical transition (as I think Marty would probably have been a short term coach too).
