Twitter: Dak against playoff teams

Haters gonna say the “eye test” lol.

Dak hate is insanely overblown and just dumb altogether but there is little reason to separate QB performances by versus playoff teams instead of versus top 15 or 10 or whatever defenses or at least just playoff games.

Part of why Dak has good numbers versus playoff teams is the defense gives up 40 points a game a lot and we face a lot of soft defenses in 2nd halves.

Dak's playoff EPA for his career is 9th during that period. It places him between Russell Wilson and Ben R.
He is a solid QB that you very much can win with, but he isn't dragging randos to the SB like peak Brady, Rodgers or Mahomes.

No, lovers/haters are both unable to see that it is the team around a player that has as much, if not more, to do with success. Am I critical? Yup, you betcha. Can I praise? Yup, you betcha. Am I an objective fan who credits the sum of the parts more than the bus driver? 100%, and it's ignored on fan forums more than anything. I won't blame Dak for having 7 years of animals on his OL, let alone weapons on the outside and backfield. I'm a smart guy who recognizes that if you put Dak/Joe/Josh on the Browns, things change.

And it says a lot about this list.
Actually maybe I spoke too soon….

Three-year totals (2023–2025)

* Passing yards: 11,698
* Passing touchdowns: 75
* Interceptions: 36
* Average passer rating: 91.9

I didn’t realize Mahomes has struggled like this the last 3 years.

are you a hater or lover?

works his tail off every year to be a better qb now than he was the season before.
hope he gets us that 6th ring.
love the guy.

Post of the month, and refreshing to see a 100% objective look at our QB and the team. I have said since Day 1 that he is a 4th round pick, and should never have been expected to carry the team alone to a Super Bowl. There is nothing wrong that, and no reason he cannot do as such, but he needs more help than a few others

I'm a lover, bro, lol. Are you asking about hater vs lover or Dak? If so, I am neutral and have listed my personal thoughts about him about 2,457.43 times on here. There are several Cowboys from the past that I am truly a huge fan of, but.....I am a fan of the team, who is allowed to be critical

He won a Superbowl in 2023 ......
I get that. I’m just saying I see why those stats may look like that because his stats these last few years have taken a hit. Which is in part why they missed the playoffs the team is getting worse therefore his play is. I’d still take him over anyone including Josh.

I think you can be critical and be a lover honestly. Doesn’t have to be either or.

This is the qualitative data vs quantitative data argument. Quantitative data is data that focuses solely on numbers and stats. Qualitative data focuses on observation and experiential analysis.

So in this case quantitative data states clearly Dak puts up big numbers against playoff teams. Also in this case qualitative data shows Dak has poor starts to playoff games.

This research manipulation also happens to other parts of the team and not just Dak. In the Dan Quinn years we had a top defense as far as turnovers. That’s quantitative data. In the playoffs they played poorly, qualitative data.

This has been my argument for the last 30 years of who’s better Emmitt or Barry. Quantitative data says Barry was better. Qualitative data says Emmitt was better. Emmitt showed up in big games and especially in the 3 Super Bowls and Super Bowl runs. Barry disappeared in the playoffs if the Lions made it to the playoffs.

Ideally you want your players to excel in both aspects of research. Ala Emmitt, Irvin, Aikman. The best players show you qualitative and quantitative data.
Bravo.

The truth haters won't like it as they only want to paint with whichever brush supports their particular argument at that particular time.

100%. You can be a lover of a team, but be critical of it's players, that's kind of being called a fan. The problem here is that the lovers of these players take offence to anything critical of them, and are not open to deep diving into the meat and potatoes, both good/bad

I posted this before, but I'll post it again:

how is this data compiled? Regular season games against teams that ultimately made the playoffs? Or all games?

For those QB's playing deeper into the playoffs it makes sense that ratings would decline.

Could be wrong but I’m pretty sure those are regular season stats. I’d imagine guys like Mahomes would have much more games than Dak and Burrow who have been hurt.

As I recall, you were one of the first to start throwing out labels like this. Just trying to speak in a language some of you seem to prefer.
