How Much Did We Improve on Defense?

You can't take them as a duo. Bullard is a little bit above average run stopper. Ogbonnia is a slightly below average run stopper. That's why I said average. Like I said I like both and both fit our defense, but you are overrating them as a duo. Bullard is going to surprise some people IMO with how well he plays on early downs and will win the starting DE job with Clark at NT IMO as I have said all along (TBD of course). While I liked the Ogbonnia signing he is just a rotation guy. There is nothing wrong with that and we needed that, but that's what he is. He turns 26 before the season so maybe he still has some development in him.

Since Q is the one replacing Osa, we have strengthened the position immensely.

I don't disagree with any of this other than the fact that we are assuming a lot about what the system will be without much basis.

If it is anything like Philly, they are just going to be in a pretty standard nickel. Anything else is just a guess. There really aren't many scenarios where 3 DTs (i.e. Bullard-Clark-Q) are all on the field. You can't do that because you are just way too exposed against the pass.

Our entire base defense will have 3 DL: Q, Clark and one other. IMO most likely Bullard, but still TBD. Also when we go nickel it isn't the standard nickel because Downs will be the "nickel corner", but in CPs defense (and you can google quotes from him on this) that isn't the same as a slot corner like Jourdan Lewis played when here. His role will be much more hybrid like Hamilton from Baltimore than a slot corner. So nickel corner, but will cover the slot receiver, will blitz, will set up in the box and will often play the deep part of the field as well.

No because Q was here half the year last year. Also don't confuse the fact that Q is a great DL which he 100% is with him being a great pass rusher. He is not. Good pass rusher, yes, great and dynamic? No.

It doesn't matter if Eberflus knew he was bad or not if there's no viable option to replace him.

But we’ll never know now because of his stubbornness. Would that mean our D would have been exponentially better? No I’m not saying that, but we did have other options to explore.

D got better when he got here. It wasn't enough as we lacked talent everywhere.

At present, Laffy is not an NFL starter. Doesn't appear to have the discipline, possibly not the brains. He tends to play the same as Murray, like a chicken running around w/ his head cut off.

I was extremely against signing Murray. 7 mil for a career bust. It was an absolutely awful pickup. Meanwhile, there are backups all around the NFL who are OK starters. Counting on Murray was just beyond dumb.

Now, this argument was about Eber playing someone else over Murray. Due to horrific talent mgmt, we did not have anyone else. Did Eber want Murray? No idea. If so, I would bash him for that.
