This is a different scheme. I don't think he's getting looked at LB and they likely only keep five inside LBs. Seconday wise they will keep either 6 cbs and 4 safeties or 5 and 5. I lean to CBs.

Is he a biscuit away from being a LB.

I can't see him at LB. Too many already when you consider the edge rushers converted from DE to OLB. He is not going to be a MLB.
And he will have a tough time make the team at Safety.
I prefer they try to get a late round draft pick for him. It is possible.

Bell is a special teams guy and a "in case of emergency, break glass" player. Not someone we need to see on the field starting. If that happens, that's a terrible sign.

neither. he is wwwaaaayyyy too slow to play safety. I can't tell you how many times I saw him trail in the passing game.
he is too small to play LB
also his recognition skills leave a lot to be desired.
he takes wrong angles too many times.

Interestingly.......he played fairly well as a LBer for Quinn but struggled under Zimm and Eberflus.

I don’t know if I like Liafau as an edge guy. Are they really going to use him there? Doesn’t seem like a fit to me…seems like more of a depth guy in the middle (as well as waste of a third rounder) but I’m not all that well versed on it.

Maybe they try him at both in TC and see what happens.

I see both Liafau & Bell as possible trades for late round draft picks. If another team has injuries or depth issues themselves. And get desperate. Teams will make trades for those type of payers, so they wil not lose them from the waiver wire claims.

Certainly not up to me, just seem like an odd position for him but ok. He is also someone that was inherited by CP, is under control for cheap, and they used a day two pick on. There’s several underlying factors there, but my guess is is that he will not have a definitive role he can thrive in with this defense. Let’s see how that goes.

First time in forever I can’t wait to get a look at all this.

Classic tweener. Not good enough at either spot IMO. Quinn squeezed about as much out of him as possible in 2023 before he and the rest of the defense got undressed and exposed @ Buffalo.

I think that’s the plan….has to thrive in special teams and thankfully for him Goodwin is retired.

Zimmer and Eberflus ruined a lot of guys. Liufai, Juanyeh, Bland, Carson….maybe it’s the player…but tough to tell.
