LB: 50 Shemar James

I disproved the narrative that Schottenheimer is nothing more than a puppet, and these particular comments were a response to a ridiculous comment that Eberflus somehow punked him.

There’s a crowd who ridiculed Schottenheimer from the day he was hired and most of it had nothing to do with football.

No one since Jimmy has jettisoned one of Jerry’s chosen favorite sons in 30 years.

It doesn’t fit the narrative that he’s jsut a bootlicker with no balls.

I didn’t even get into a Christian Parker, which is 100% Schottenheimer’s move.

You can probably attribute Downs as well.

People think because he’s not angry all the time that he isn’t his own man.

If you want a coach like Jimmy or Belichik, keep dreaming. Not only has that coaching style passed into history, it would never work with Jerry.

Success on the field absolutely remains to be seen, but a Schottenheimer has already proven that he has the exceedlingly rare ability to work for Jerry, limit and control him, as much as possible, and he’s done it without getting us his feelings about his own ego.
Maybe Schottenheimer has proven that he can overcome some of Jerry's meddling ways. That's a plus (DC hire), if it lasts.
What I don't see is how your take disproves any narrative that this guy isn't a yes man.
Until proven otherwise--he's still the latest entry that dangles by strings.

So, are these the options of any Cowboys coach as long as Jerry is alive

  1. Be completely spineless and let Jerry make every decision like Garrett
  2. Go back in time and become Jimmy Johnson before he fired himself and Jerry said “never again”
  3. Act like Jimmy, puff your chest out and publicly make Jerry look like he has no power and is just the money man. Get fired instantly.
  4. Learn how to manage up and get what you need while not getting fired immediately. Schottenheimer so far.
Have to tell you, some fans act like they would prefer to jsut see absolute carnage because it would “show Jerry” and they can vicariously tell Jerry to stick it where the sun don’t shine.

Problem with that is you instantly go back to an *actual.* powerless yes man who has no influence, no ability to make changes, be powerless to hire your own staff and have little to no input in roster building or even snaps.

I honesty thing Schottenheimer has a bit of “Jerry Whisperer” in him. He may end up not being able to advance in the playoffs but at least he will live or die with at least a little bit of agency.

You're giving this stiff way too much credit. Just give it time and it will all become clear to you...or not.
Enjoy your evening.

It is a struggle.

Look at the mess at LT. Shotty has no solution. Guyton is Jerry's pet cat.

The mess with Eber last season. All Jerry. Shotty didnt do anything to reign in Eber. But maybe Jerry blocked him?

The last second Micah trade that blew up the defense. All Jerry.

I just showed you exactly how Schottenheimer handled Eberflus last season.

That’s how a coach manages that situation.

Nothing short of him standing at the podium, pointing at the camera, and saying “Jerry! I’m calling you out! would have satisfied you.

any young guy I am giving a mulligan pretty much due to Everflop.
Yeah I saw a lot to disappoint me, BUT sometimes in a down year it snowballs.

When the entire defense was pretty terrible it becomes nearly impossible to evaluate any individual player.

Eber ran “off man cover” with cover 3 or cover 2 zone all season.

Almost every play.

How is that handling Eber?
