Your biggest reason for optimism

Look at those eyes.

I know...it's hard to imagine, that rich, that "medicated", that "don't Give f"

"i Can only imagine"

No I never have, nor have I seen Jerry at a McDonalds!

But now I know your crazy. because no one has ever accused my of being an igglets fan
They only thing I'd do with one of their jerseys is wipe my a** with it
You didn't watch the cowboys show a few years ago, even the biggest COOG hater knows what Jerry did

I hope for the same as you do. But to say I never seen them play is ********. I seen them play. They played poorly. That doesn't help Dak. I'd rather Dak not have to overcome that.
You seen them?

Just prior to the start of training camp, I wanted to talk about the general feeling of optimism for this upcoming season (or not if you’re feeling pessimistic).

I honestly feel more optimistic about this team than I have in several years.

I think they’re really capable of competing for a Championship this year.
My own biggest reason for being optimistic is mainly the defense.

In Year One under Schottenheimer, the Cowboys offense was playoff caliber. It wasn’t perfect, but it was right there among the best. And all starters are returning, so I feel good about that side of the ball.

But the 2025 defense was an absolute disaster. And there’s nowhere to go but up. And I feel they’ve improved a great deal in personnel.

But I’m most impressed with the coaching staff they’ve been able to put together.

Consider the pedigree of these coaches:
  • Christian Parker - he’s coached several of the best defensive backs in the entire league. In 2025, his Eagles secondary ranked 8th in passing defense (189.8 ypg) and 5th in scoring defense (19.1 ppg) and allowed the fewest passing touchdowns in the league.
  • Derrick Ansley - In 2025, his Packers pass defense ranked 11th in the NFL, giving up 194.1 yards per game.
  • Marcus Dixon - In 2025, the Vikings defensive unit ranked 2nd in passing yards allowed (158.5 ypg). Dixon has had a significant impact on both the defensive linemen as well as the linebackers in his defense.
  • Brandon "BT" Jordan - served as a pass rush specialist for the Denver Broncos, where he helped coach a unit that ranked 1st in the NFL in total sacks.

The proven track record of this staff is what gives the most confidence going into this season.
I'm a believe-it-when-I-see-it fan now. I can't blame anyone for having optimism because it's tough not going into a new season hoping your team stands a chance. I just decided a few years ago that I'm better off just trying to enjoy each game and letting the season play out however it is going to play out. Entering my sixth decade, I just feel that's better for my health and I don't want to be a person who gets depressed for the week because my team lost ... a game shouldn't have that much influence over me.

So, I don't have any long-term goals for this team because I would rather be surprised and excited by success than disappointed and crushed by failure. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy talking about my team, discussing our acquisitions, etc., because that's part of the fun for me. But I've been optimistic in the past multiple times and it's come back to bite me. So I don't have any confidence that the end result is going to be any better than it has been for the past 30 years. I'm just going to try to enjoy the ride, wherever it takes me.

Mine is limited but positive, i wanted Jerry to not mess up the draft and he didnt Jerry it up. The draft was good, the off season has been good. Im riding that wave. This year im trying to give Jerry credit when i see what he does correct.

Our O can still put up points….im just not sold on what we did on D, BIG questions at Lb, CB, and end still. We got Gary, who was never a big time player and drafted an end that many looked at as a bit of a reach in the first, not OVERLY impressive in college…so olb/end is still who knows. Durant was a good pick up, but is Bland gonna continue to be mediocre like he has been since his pick 6 season and is Revel going to be any good? And with LB, yeah we traded for Winters, but is he going to be enough, is D-Mo going to return to form of a couple years ago pre injury, is he gonna stay healthy? Lots of what ifs…..the O is the side we KNOW can perform….so they are why I’m optimistic. If we have moderate improvement on D, we can be back in playoffs.

Jerry makes all the decisions ........ and you thinking anything different shows your intelligence level.
Did Jerry pick all of the coaches hired this year? Yes or no? Educate the board. Did Jerry pick the players that were drafted?

Coming from a guy that says that the coaches didn't pick their assistants this year.
Did Jerry pick all of the coaches hired this year? Yes or no? Educate the board. Did Jerry pick the players that were drafted?
Where's your proof that Jerry finally took a step back and let his coaches make a decision?

Yes .........and if you think he did not you are naive.

Narcissist do not suddenly change ......... only an idiot would think they would.
Jerry MAY have listened to some suggestions, but there's no way in hell he didn't make the final decisions. Not a chance...
