Romo on pardon my take about not winning a Superbowl

Realistically, there was no way they were going to bench Prescott after what he'd done while Romo was out. There was too much momentum; that train had left the station. Especially when for all anyone knew, Romo might get hurt immediately. It sucked that his career had to end that way. But I don't think it could have gone any other way.

Of course it could have. If Romo gets hurt again put Dak back in.

But Jethro knew he’d get roasted publicly if Romo lost playoff game even if he thought he provided best opportunity to beat Rodgers and Packers.

Then they could have fought it out in Training Camp next year. And you’d either have a strong back up or trade bait.

But Jethro had mentioned before he never wants a QB controversy or real competition at QB.

And why he was better off losing with Prescott.

He moved on cause he was forced to not because he wanted to. And thats part of what fan forums are for , discussing subjective scenario's.

That said , I could have done without his mopey letter. He pouted all the way out.

I wish he hadn’t of played for that 4 play TD where he looked ready to go. And a more prolific passer than our Rookie sensation.

My old and often recited choice of the Rogers' song is how I perceive Jones' permanent aptitude as an NFL general manager. His professional ability is not grounded in necessary football knowledge for sound decision-making, but that it is driven by an internal gut feeling. I doubt he has and can continue hiring and firing *enough* truly qualified NFL professionals to negate his final choices for returning the franchise to an actual championship competitive level.

In short, Jones gambles. He shuffles people beneath him, who are there to advise him. However, I believe he lacks essential fundamentals for casting *enough* correct yea and nay determinations based on how he is advised. Nor do I think he can mastermind his way through ideas he comes up with his own, such as him settling on acquiring Trey Lance. He does not know when to hold them or fold them. He does know how to gamble, just like picking a place on the ground to drill for oil.

I think that Romo hit a genuinely elite, MVP level around 2013, he just couldn't maintain it for longer than 1 1/2 seasons before his body failed him.

I'm not sure if the earlier version of Romo could have won a Super Bowl... maybe on the giga-loaded 2007 team. 2013 and '14 Romo definitely could've won it all. If he had a defense.

No that was not the reason, romo was 25 mil a season, dak was about half a mil. that was reason #1
Dak was on a hot streak and it all looked great to the casual viewer.
But the offense was mostly dak running,The locker room liked dak better too.
The smart thing to do was go back to Romo for the playoffs, and if he falters or gets hurt again just switch back to dak.
But jerry would not say well I dont need to win in playoffs so I will just go with dak.
He thought it was the smart move, switching to a young cheap qb who had proven he could win.

And everyone had to game plan for Zeke and that wasn't working.

Yup, I’ll never forget that. He wasn’t wrong but you don’t say that publicly like that to a fan base that has been craving a Super Bowl for 20+ years at that point, or even any playoff success for that matter.

I also think he was a jackass for going to Cabo and having splash fights in the waves with Witten and Simpson during their one week bye for having the best record in the NFC. He had an overall good game until the INT, but again, perception is everything.

The Giants, who went on to win the Super Bowl after beating us, were playing playoff football while Romo had his mind focused on you know what. Maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference but it wasn’t a good look IMO. If he was that serious, he would have been 100% focused on football until the season was officially over but he let their record, and Simpson, get in his cocky *** head. He wasn’t giving his goofy *** arrogant smirk after that loss.
