Of course it could have. If Romo gets hurt again put Dak back in.Realistically, there was no way they were going to bench Prescott after what he'd done while Romo was out. There was too much momentum; that train had left the station. Especially when for all anyone knew, Romo might get hurt immediately. It sucked that his career had to end that way. But I don't think it could have gone any other way.
But Jethro knew he’d get roasted publicly if Romo lost playoff game even if he thought he provided best opportunity to beat Rodgers and Packers.
Then they could have fought it out in Training Camp next year. And you’d either have a strong back up or trade bait.
But Jethro had mentioned before he never wants a QB controversy or real competition at QB.
And why he was better off losing with Prescott.
