Can Jonathan Mingo finally develop into a reliable fourth option for the Cowboys?

I'd much rather have 35 yr old Barkevious Mingo, who has been out of the league since 2021, on this roster

I'd rather have Johnny Ringo than Johnny Mingo.

I was going to say him, he's a vet so let's see what he can bring, I want someone to challenge TURPIN
Valdez Scantling is a WR who is now on his 8th NFL team.

Turpin is a return specialist that also plays WR.

Exactly how is MVS going to challenge Turpin?

Turpin is not going to be considered a WR option after training camp. He'll grab some gadjet snaps when a team has slow #3-#4 corners in the game.
Last year he showed himself to be too light at 160lbs. to take the beating from scrimmage.
Valdez Scantling is a proven NFL 3-4 WR,more accomplished than Mingo, Holden has promise and Smith could be a #5-#6 if his special team work is good.
We may keep 5 if the TE position balls out in camp. It's time to cut bait on Mingo and Schoony.

Denzel Mims was a second round pick out of Baylor and with the Jets had garbage throwing to him . Suffice to say Prescott is a Cadillac compared to what the Jets were driving .

Traeshon Holden played for the current Cowboys WR coach Adams at Oregon . It’s year two for the UDFA to have a solid camp make a move .

Anthony Smith showed tons of speed can catch the deep ball was this years 7th rounder on tape he seems to be NFL grade WR .

I expect any of these three to make things difficult for Mingo who’s shown nothing in Dallas and Turpin because of size seems limited in the NFL as a WR .

I don't think Mingo will even make it to the cut down day of the rookie shows anything at all.

In 14 games for the Cowboys, Mingo has 6 receptions on 21 targets for 71 yards. That's a 28.5% catch rate.

Meanwhile, Turpin has 70 catches on 110 targets (63.6% catch rate) for 952 yards and 7 TDs. I don't get why people are so quick to wanna pull him on the field.
He's not reliable as a WR, and he went from being an elite return specialist to a jag overnight. He couldn't even get the fair catch right.

If he can't get back to being a good returner, there's no reason for him to even be on the team. IMO, if he doesn't show that he can get back to the weapon he was in 2024, he won't make the roster.

These are really good points. The competition for WR depth will be as good as any other position on the team.

I genuinely forgot we got Mimms. All the more reason I doubt Mingo makes the team.

I’d rather have Ringo from the Beatles. And he’s 86 years old and never played football.
