What camp positions will you be monitoring closely?

If we want to talk about being physical, why not start off with the o-line vs the d line. Especially the interior guys such as Booker, Smith, and Cooper against Williams, Clark, Otito, Bullard, throw in Toia. Things could get really tough out there!!

What position(s) will you monitor closet?? Please give your input!!

Our OTs will have their hands full too FYI

I think all position to a degree.

On offense.
Back up QB, #2 RB, WR depth behind Ferguson. Swing Tackle. I do think the starting 5 are set, regardless what is said about Guyton.

WR is the only position not in question except WR #5 and #6 if they keep 6.

On defense.
CB and depth. We know Bland will most likely start, but who is on the opposite side.
Same for S.
Thompson and Hooker, and Downs in the slot. Or Downs in place of Hooker if no Nickel defense.
LB / OLB / Edge. Who starts and what is the rotation.

DL probably only position set in Clark and Williams, and one other of in the 3-4 alignment. But also depth and rotation needs to be determined.

I really don’t have any one to single out, except maybe RB depth.

Cornerback.

Two of our top three corners had serious injury issues last year and the third is a free agent who was a rotational player.

The next group is either completely untested late round picks or UDFAs.

The feeble pass rush at least has a platoon of healthy second or third tier guys to keep rotating in and out.

Cornerback will probably determine if our defense gets any better because mediocre pass rush combined with innnefective receiver coverage means any and every game could be a shootout

.....monitoring real closely .. ;).

Good points there's a lot to look at. Just saw someone mention how TURPIN is now 30 years old and still hasn't really fully developed into a WR any issues with this?

Oh

I dunno, everything with Dallas seems to be so much hype that monitoring positions just seems to be a waste of time. Even if it's a couple of players competing to start it doesn't really matter to me as I'm not the one making the decvision. Nowdays I look more for how the rookies and new players are doing.

I really don’t think we are going to see much of much until the opener.

Sad, but that’s how they do.

I think starters ought to play at least a few series in preseason game two, especially when there’s a new coordinator.

I would like to see some competition for him to return punts and kick offs. Can he be traded even, allowing them to keep someone like Smith or Holden on the roster.

I think they tried to push him into the offense too much last year. To justify his contract. And he did have a few fumbles.

But if they keep him, I am ok with that as well. I do want to see these other WR's in TC and PS games to get a feel on what I think they should do.

Great post!!!

Never understood the #TurpinHate

you posted all of this like he did it in one season!!

It's ok to be critical of players who may have LOSS a step, is he the same player he was when we got him (return game) doesn't seem like it. Things can change, but he's getting older, still hasn't developed much into a WR, he gets the ball, you blow on him and he's going down!

We should watch how successful franchises handle preseason and emulate them. The way the Cowboys run camp hasn't worked.

def line
cb

personally....rb....rooting for the blue/mafa combo to make some noise...and some td's.

I think it’s done by rules per CBA.

I’d personally try to play starters a bit in the preseason, but I really can’t say I know how much they can and can’t get done in practice and joint scrimmages type things.

Will be interesting to see if anyone steps up at OLB/Edge. That might be the most "exciting" position. Otherwise I am expecting some pretty average play on the defense. Safety should be pretty good, but I don't expect Downs is getting 5-6 INTs. He'll probably have like 3.

Camp means squat. Every year we have a camp stud. Then real games start and camp stud disappears.
