Your biggest reason for optimism

As I've stated preciously, I'm more hopeful than optimistic, but if any resemblance of optimism is within my heart and soul, the newly added defensive plans have me more hopeful than I've been for a while. Jerry stepping back is good, also. Let's hope I'm not alone in those expectations.

I'm seeing cause for hope in the coming season to be significantly improved over that of 2025. That, in itself, should be good cause for hope and even a hint of optimism. I'm all for looking forward to 2026 being a fair opportunity for success. Best of luck to our defense!

2) star WR duo of Lamb & Pickens
3) productive run game under Javonta Williams
4) a " hopeful" new and improved defense unde DC Parker
5) additon of new defensive player personnel ala S Downs & Thompson , DE Gary

Sorry but i just have to curve my enthusiasm for defense hopes, until i finally see developing results, .. we've been thru this hoola circle before with the previous past DCs.
It's stil lquite a wait & see with me first.

Caleb Downs.I know its daunting to put so much on a rookie but having a cerebral player on the field who can make sure payers are lined up properly on every play will dramatically improve our Defense.

As ar as stats go? Yes. His performance and decision making throughout the course of the game hinders the team. It is what it is. We would have to critique the games together minute by minute to come to a mutual understanding

I have been highly critical of him because of what I have seen from him over his career. For his 1st 7 years I had no faith in him but hoped in a dual personality type of way that he would put the team on his back and win

To this date it hasn't happened. So I am done with the prehype. Although I love this team and I love the direction they are going. It will be a fun year to watch

But Dak once again will fall flat on his face, rinse, repeat. He may even have amazing stats and other aspects of the team will be blamed.

Dak will not put the team on his back. The Cowboys will be 1 and done again

I think Bland is done. However, we do have a very talented by raw Revel, and a CB who screams top 10 in Moore. If he can stay on the field. Gawd I hate drafting yet more injury prone players.

I hope you're right, but I've gotten my hopes up too many times before. For my own sanity, I don't take these games as serious as I used to. But I'll be thrilled if they end up being so good that they win the Super Bowl.

Just prior to the start of training camp, I wanted to talk about the general feeling of optimism for this upcoming season (or not if you’re feeling pessimistic).

I honestly feel more optimistic about this team than I have in several years.

I think they’re really capable of competing for a Championship this year.
My own biggest reason for being optimistic is mainly the defense.

In Year One under Schottenheimer, the Cowboys offense was playoff caliber. It wasn’t perfect, but it was right there among the best. And all starters are returning, so I feel good about that side of the ball.

But the 2025 defense was an absolute disaster. And there’s nowhere to go but up. And I feel they’ve improved a great deal in personnel.

But I’m most impressed with the coaching staff they’ve been able to put together.

Consider the pedigree of these coaches:

• Christian Parker - he’s coached several of the best defensive backs in the entire league. In 2025, his Eagles secondary ranked 8th in passing defense (189.8 ypg) and 5th in scoring defense (19.1 ppg) and allowed the fewest passing touchdowns in the league.
• Derrick Ansley - In 2025, his Packers pass defense ranked 11th in the NFL, giving up 194.1 yards per game.
• Marcus Dixon - In 2025, the Vikings defensive unit ranked 2nd in passing yards allowed (158.5 ypg). Dixon has had a significant impact on both the defensive linemen as well as the linebackers in his defense.
• Brandon "BT" Jordan - served as a pass rush specialist for the Denver Broncos, where he helped coach a unit that ranked 1st in the NFL in total sacks.

The proven track record of this staff is what gives the most confidence going into this season.

Sorry, can't find any reasons to be optimistic at all.
The owner, owner's family, and a head coach still learning on the job fills me with pessimism.
How I long for the good old days when we had a team like we had in 1992-1995.
