News: Eagles make Carter the highest paid DT ever with $152m contract

Some people will continue to say "Get yo bag, son" and " Don't worry about another man money" until those same people wont be able to afford game tickets or streaming fees.

Just waiting for the NFL to no longer allow free game viewing on antenna tv.

Eventually the NFL will grease enough palms of the jabronis in congress to have less oversight than they do now.
You seem to have a problem with free market capitalism. Its weird that this always comes out with sports and players salaries. And not in actual poltics. Bc the second people ask corporations to pay more in taxes, so other things can be paid for? People start losing their minds. But its a problem when supply demand dictates the supply that allows them to price out the affordablitity for some people.

Like the responder said. For $200 a year you can get Sunday Ticket which gives you access to every game and more. I cant talk about another persons finances. But thats cheaper than going to see 1 game on average.

But people are pocket watching other grown men and talking about being "priced out". Sunday ticket is cheaper and more accessible than its EVER been. What the heck do some of yall even be talking about?

Make it make sense.

His name alone gets him 35 off the bat

no it doesn't..stay tuned.. I want to see what Dexter Lawrence is going to get why don't we talk about Cincinnati why would you trade for a guy who also forced to trade out of New York they weren't going to pay him so he left they restructured his deal so he got a one year $28 million deal His career they're about the same age and been in the NFL about the exact many times and had one super great year and the rest of them been you know solid Them too are the ones who I want to see where their contracts land...

facts Stop using emotions and hyperbole to guess with somebody's contract's going to be that doesn't always workout. I'm telling you will always hover around 30 we'll see how far over 30 it goes but let's let Q Actually play for the Cowboys a whole full season and see what he's got and see if the little drop off since 22 and kind of split last year and I mean where is he at, NOW? He is not a legacy cowboy Therefore we don't owe him a legacy contract he needs to show us here what he is right now and that'll determine his contract going forward not what he did in the past for the Jets... Who by the way let him walk just like Dexter Lawrence walked Now we have other trade demands from Vea.. There'll be a better idea next offseason and we'll talk about it next offseason since right now it matters not absolutely 100 percent does not matter... I know this for sure Q will not get paid this season therefore time to move on 'cause we'll discuss it again next year..

Now how you counter these two in Dallas is with a dominant OL . Javonte Williams cutting right through the Carter Davis expressway. .

You clearly don't know anything about market value! You're right he does have to show he's worth it

good googly wobbly

Oh well. I predicted this kind of contract madness back in 1993, when the owners and players union were hashing out this current CBA free agency/salary cap era. Simple economics. Buyer and seller. Supply and demand.

Don't know how much more outlandish professional sports athletes' contracts will get before my last day, but it will never be truly surprising.
Weeble‘s, wobble, but they don’t fall down .

Not really First of all he'd have to show this year that he's that kind of talent I know he probably will but he's also more of a nose tackle There's a difference 3T etc 5T ie They usually get paid more than a nose tackle now let's look at Jordans contract didn't they just pay the same nose tackle on their team as well?

The Cowboys could argue he is a straight up nose tackle Look at his age and all that that's where they'll start is this or somewhere in this neighborhood I mean Chris Jones only makes 30 I like Quinn and Williams but I'm not sure if he's ever been the all around player chris Jones was pass rusher stops the run very mobile always making splash plays vs a NT that Mostly holds up the middle and stops the run..

Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles signed nose tackle Jordan Davis to a massive three-year, $78 million contract extension.

Contract Details
    • Total Value: $78 million over three years
    • Guaranteed Money: $65 million
    • Record: Makes him the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history
Jr stated today that they have reached out to Q about an extension....so year, really

Damn. I didn’t know Howie handed out deals like this. Carter isn’t even a top 6 guy and he has been questionable on the field with some antics…
He most certainly is. He had one slightly off year but he’s just entering his prime.

Q is a three-tech. It’s where he has lined up for 90% of his NFL snaps.

Jerry is an idiot. This should have been handled before free agency. We could have had $15m this year against the cap and saved probably $15-20m on Qs contract

Yeah that's not how it always works I do understand it but not every player is in line for new market money Absolutely not again we saw two running backs get 20 and $19 million respectively way overpaid the rest of the league saw it and said no I'm not paying our guys that hell Seattle even let Kenneth Walker go after he was walked the MVP of the Super Bowl he didn't get new market money all the running backs that have signed since were way below that...

I mean not everyone is getting JSN money if you think that George Pickens is gonna get the same amount of money or more but in your eyes it's more so he you think George Pickens is the next big market setting money is that what you're saying 'cause you always talk about him is that what you think he's getting?

And here's one for our own board When did Prescott get his new deal here it was how much Close to 60 AAV And now three or four years later many quarterbacks have resigned and nobody's set a new market don't say it's 'cause of Jerry if that's the money then everybody needs to be paid similar or more it have to be 60 or more that's your perspective on the market you think it all works that way every time and it doesn't...

And even our own seedy lamb who threatened to hold out didn't cause a big problem but he did threaten it He did not make more money then Jefferson he accepted a little less he did not set new market money there was no new market set I could do this all day I don't even follow the NFL but I can go look at all the transactions not everyone in the same position is going to end up getting paid new market money it's not how it works it can work that way but it does not always work that way if you overpaid and in this case there might be some overpaid positions that will settle back down and there will be a bunch below that..

Especially looking at this events this year Houston's nuts for paying their guy that much money and they'll look at this and down the road the market will adjust..

I'm not going to do this all day let's just see him play and see where this goes but if you think he's making a new market contract they'll be the highest paid defensive tackle in the league i'm telling you you're probably very wrong...

So you're arguing you're trying to tell me he's gonna make more money than the highest paid defensive tackle in the league because that's how the market works No the market's always work this way if you're top 5 people consider you one of the best at your position They will try to get your money in the top 5 but you won't always be the next highest paid..

That's the market not new market money always you'll get paid with your word but it might not always be more than the last guy..

QW's number has pretty much always been $40m, especially since Simmons signed. This doesn't really change anything on that front.
That’s why Jerry should have done it before free agency like everyone in the football world was suggesting

This is a demonstrated trend with the cowboys

I'm thinking they might have done the Quinnen extension in the event they were able to pull off the Maxx Crosby trade; because then they would have needed the extra space.

Once again it's a case of Jerry snoozing and losing. Quinnen will cost a lot more now; of course as an eight year veteran maybe it won't be quite as steep as the Carter deal.

doesnt really matter... because the cap keeps going up with the salaries. Its the percentage oif the cap the qb takes that matters most, not the amount per season.
You can see the motivation leave their eyes the moment they sign those massive deals.

Money goes up, availability goes down.

No doubt. But a savy GM like Jerry would have brought the less flattering tape to the negotiating table to help bring the price down. Howie is slipping.
The tape Jerry would have brought would be the Dez Walmart tape that the cowboys sneak team got their hands on and proceeded to threaten Dez with its releases while they were negotiating his contract

And don’t get me started on the media whisper campaign and the public talk show tour where the daily drumbeat of the local sports news is the latest negative whisper about a players character, desire, skill, or leverage.

It’s as well documented trend as Jerry being behind the curve on getting players signed

Jerry and his people are unethical and incompetent. What a combo

There’s also great context people like to omit because it doesn’t fit whatever narrative is going. Such as…

Jalen still has multiple years to his rookie deal left. Howie signed him early as possible, he was in Mazi’s draft class. So in total, it’s 6y, 183m, or only 30m$ a year. Thats now suddenly less than Simmons, and Q is almost certainly going to surpass that as well.
You’re speaking a foreign language with that type of contract strategy.

Our cap and contract expert had one job in his entire before the Cowboys. He was the equipment manager for Jerry’s alma mater.

25 years with the team.
