I’m typically critical of the team for thinking ahead too much in an attempt to avoid a down year, but I think hanging on to the first rounder that doesn’t have to go to the Jets is a vital move, especially if they have little intention or expectation of signing Pickens long term.

I’m all for going for it within certain windows, but I’d have a tough time dealing a first for a rusher, limiting the snaps of who we already spent a first and a second on, then them saying they are out on Pickens because of that player…..then they can’t replace him immediately either because they’ve already dealt their best asset.

I would really not trade for Crosby. I don’t want or need stars, rather have a unit that complements each other. Let’s at least see what they look like before anything rash is done.

I also think Jerry said that to appease fans. I mean, where was this aggressiveness when MM was here and another move or two could have been the difference?

Ol Jerry has come out of hibernation, he has been quiet too long, and he has to create some drama. He probably thinks the team has been to well behaved this offseason, it's time for some team killing drama from the Ol wildcatter himself. Josh Sweat would be a nice addition however at outside linebacker as part of a rotation. He had 12 sacks last season, and should come relatively cheap.

If he was serious, he would've targeted Myles Garrett, instead he gets traded to Rams, who are poised to make a run again this year.

They wanted verse. Dallas was never going to make a better offer. I guarantee Dallas and many other teams tried for Garrett as well

He likes to be known as a big “gambler” but he hasn’t been that guy since Stephen started exerting his influence.

What have been Jerry’s “big trades” of the last decade?

• 2025 The Micah Parsons Trade - Parsons to GB for two #1 picks. Looks good so far but we still need to see what it reaps long term.
• 2018 - Amari Cooper Trade - acquired Cooper from the raiders for #1 pick. Was a good trade in the short run by getting the team back on track to the playoffs in 2018, but nothing after. Got a 5th round pick for him in return on 2021.

There have been a lot of cheaper trades like the Trey Lance, Jonathan Mingo trades. Which were bad.

Can we be confident we don’t get fleeced or it has big impact?

Wouldn't that get tricky after the Quinnen Williams trade? Dallas' 1st next year is either their own or Green Bay's, whichever is lower. Would another team opt into that?

No I mentioned the Parsons trade (and all we got from that) in the first paragraph as a possible good trade. I can’t count that as good or bad yet because we don’t know what that has translated to yet.

So far, we are 7-9-1 and no playoff wins after that trade. Hopefully it turns into multiple playoff wins. We just don’t know yet.

They certainly do. But as I said above we have yet to see the impact of the Quinnen Williams trade. He hasn’t even played a full season for us yet. I think he will be excellent for us in time.

But I tend to judge trades by their impact on our bottom line - winning playoff games. Time will tell.

Pickens WAS a steal IF we have him long enough to have some playoff success. He was great last year statistically for sure but we had a losing season and didn’t make the playoffs. Not his fault of course.

If GP is gone after this season it will be a good trade if it translated to playoff wins or garnered some good draft capital. Even one playoff win would be great. We will see.

Well, the other team would know that going in.

Trading a first or trading for a first is always ambiguous and a gamble. Could be late, could end up being very early….although in this case both Dallas and Green Bay would need to have bad seasons for that pick to be on the higher side.

You’d think that caveat would lessen the value a bit, but there’s no reason it can’t be traded.

Depends on how it works out. Getting him for a 3rd and 5th rounder is good for sure.

But - If he’s a two year rental that results in zero playoff wins, what did we accomplish in the end? That’s how I usually judge trades - what kind of playoff success did it lead to?

Probably not. But the only to truly assure Dak wins a playoff game is by making sure he faces the weakest, least intimidating opposing QB. So, a dominant pass rush is really the only way to make Playoff Prescott - aka Playoff PeePee - to look decent and win. So I agree...knowing our weakness and achilees heel ...if he's really talking SB, you go out and you get Garrett and take him away from the Rams. Dak is already skittish under pressure...IF he by dumb luck makes it to face the Rams...he will crumble under Garrett's rush.
