PFT: Crosby hears Cowboys' trade chatter

Well....let's go there then. If Dallas were to make the deal, what would you be willing to give up? I doubt highly a number one, not for Brooks. So maybe a 2 or even a 3. Dallas would be projected to be a playoff team for sure....so those are picks at the end of the 2nd or 3rd. Would that entice them enough to take on some of the cap hits? If it were my team that did that, I would be pretty pissed off.
IM no GM so I dont know for sure. Id probably give a 2 for him. As far as cap hits, why would you be pissed? Dolphins are in 100% rebuild mode. Cap hits are the least of their worries for the next 2 years. They need to stockpile as many high picks as they can, just like Detroit did a few years back.

It's never. This is a poorly constructed team that is more than a couple of players away.
I don't disagree, but it is as good as it can be with this core group. If this doesn't work, have to cut some expensive bait and rebuild. Again.

I think if you're humble, legendary is not part of your vocabulary - at least to seek to be called that by others. Others might heap that praise on you but even then you might not pay it much mind.
I think there’s room for some of that, for wanting to be the best, but not being egotistical about it. Tom Brady always had a chip on his shoulder, never complacent, but always wanted to be the best and was confident but not egotistical about it. I think there’s a sweet spot in the middle where u want to be the best but know u have to stay humble and not be complacent to get there. Legendary is the accomplishments u work towards, humble is the mindset u need to get there. My wannabe Confucius take at least!

Good points. I just don't think having it on his body so others can point and say, "oh, how cool that he wants to be legendary" is a humble thing to do. If it's just for him then tattoo it in reverse so you can look at it in a mirror when you're by yourself, lol. I'm not slamming the guy for it. It was just interesting to see contrasting things and probably a product of the social media age where people are constantly trying to draw comments about their day-to-day. He's produced at a high level though so no one can knock his methods of getting stuff done. Do what works for you.

If he truly has 2 or 3 years left….id trade as high as a 2.
Hard pass. Dallas needs to keep their draft picks. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, two 6th

  • 1st Round: Own their own and the Green Bay Packers' pick (the higher of these two goes to the New York Jets)
  • 2nd Round: Own their own pick
  • 3rd Round: Own their own pick
  • 4th Round: Traded to the Green Bay Packers for Rashan Gary
  • 5th Round: Traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for George Pickens
  • 6th Round: Own their own pick and an additional pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers
  • 7th Round: Traded to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2026 draft

I’ll be honest…..I don’t care about 2027 and on. I don’t like the whole worry about two years from now in favor neglecting the present. I don’t care about cap hell or the draft. I’ve seen this time prioritize the future just to suck in the present.

You have to commit to risking your future or your present. You can’t do both. And losing out on the next Kelden Joseph or Schoonmaker doesn’t scare me.

You don’t need picks to improve your team.

At minimum they will have a 1st and a 3rd…..

A 2nd for Brooks. A 1st and a future 3rd for Crosby.
They do not have the draft capital to get 1 let alone getting both.

They have a 1, 2, 3, 6, 6 in 2027.

That 1st will be the lower of the 2 they did have, as the higher pick goes to the Jets.
What team would give up a top player for what could be a pick in the 20's. Since many are high on Dallas to make the playoffs.
They have no idea what that pick will be.

They would need to dip into the 2028 picks. And most team probably will not do that for a top player.

Fans need to give up on these ideas.
If this team was close to a SB , such as the Rams were / are. It may be different. But they aren't as we do not even know what the defense will be with or without any of these other players.

Interestingly........we have not heard or seen anything from the Raiders or Crosby shutting it down. Crosby's comment, 'it doesn't change anything for me,' isn't saying anything.

The Raiders could shut this down with a statement. I def think the Cowboys' trade interest is alive but his trade value and current injury are complicating things a bit. The Raiders have a rookie QB and coach. They are at least two years from competing.......moving Crosby makes sense. The botched trade with the Ravens doesn't change that. He was never worth two 1st-rounders.......

“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” he told USA Today. “People act like they don’t … if you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything. Regardless, if you want to or not. You can try to live in a cage, but then your teammate is coming up to you, ‘How do you deal with it?’

“I’m getting rehab, the first thing this morning, and all my teammates are looking at it and I’m trying to ignore it. But ultimately, you just have to learn to roll with the punches. I’ve gone through a lot in my personal life, a lot in my football life. So, (stuff) like that is nothing. If the child version of me was looking at Stephen A. Smith talking about, ‘Is this dude the guy to come win you a Super Bowl?’ like I think that’s cool. Whether it’s made up or not. They wouldn’t be talking about you if you weren’t doing something right.”

I agree somewhat........the Brooks thing is dead but IMO Crosby interest is definitely still open. It makes too much sense for both teams and Crosby to NOT happen.

You bring up some very valid points, but I think you're under estimating the Cowboys 1st rounder still. Yeah it takes a slight hit because of the Jets deal, and now any team acquiring it is rooting against both the Cowboys and Packers for that to be a high value pick, but almost any team looking to acquire a player like Crosby is probably projected to be picking somewhere in the 20s if not the 30s. I think there was probably a bigger boost to the Jets in that clause for the Q trade as they get two chances of a team underperforming to get big value out of the deal, but in general the Raiders FO has probably already penciled in that any team trading for Crosby is likely going to be picking 25ish. The projected value for the Cowboys pick is already in line with what LV would be expecting, they just lose some potential upside of the Cowboys underperforming.

I watch too much football. I agree with you. I just don't like all the tattoos, in my opinion it makes the uniform look bad. it's am retired military 38yrs, when I was in tattoos had to be able to not be seen while in uniform it looks clean. I would take Crosby but he would need to wear the stuff to hide tattoos, hate all those tattoos. I have two tattoos myself on my arms but you can only see them if I wear cutoff sleeves.
I too served 21 years in the military, and current work on a military installation. While it is true we couldn’t let our tats been seen, it’s a different era. These young men and women are allowed to show them freely in uniform now. We have to change with the times, or get left behind by them…

But what makes sense does not usually happens.
Every one thought / wanted Brooks to Dallas making sense. It did not happen.

What this FO said about a splash, or looking at options, or always trying to improve. Are said all the time. And all teams go by this. It is just Jerry & son can't keep their mouths' shut. You know, keep the team in the news.

They have been quiet all off season. Until this. And it has everyone in an uproar. As they like it.
