Does Michael Trigg have any chance of making the 53?

I think he's able to be trusted, he's a hard nosed blocker, seems to be able to make plays for us, I'd have no problem with this

I agree with this other than to say that Schoon is more easily replaceable from waivers and other practice squads. Trigg, theoretically, has a unique skillset that would be more "risky" to lose.

Given that, I can see a scenario where Trigg makes the 53 but isn't active on game day and TE3, be in Schoon or someone else, is basically just a practice squad call up every week.

Yep, he isn’t awful by any stretch, just way overdrafted. I’d bet on him to have a nice camp with his roster spot in question.

He won’t be here next year, but will be in the league for a few more years no doubt.

Agree on Ford. He will be TE2 but if Ferg is out, I’d start Schoonmaker, unless Trigg is performing miracles.

Camp is literally just one week old. He has to learn the NFL game. Give him a little time.

Ferguson and Spann-Ford are locks.

The problem for a guy like Trigg is that although people want to run off Schoonmaker, he plays in every aspect of the special teams group. When you’re fighting for a roster spot that is huge.

He played on 241 special teams plays and was third string on offense

Trigg has big questions coming out about not only his ability to block but his willingness to block.

He wants to catch touchdowns and that’s about it.

Third string tight ends can’t do that so he has to be volunteering for every special teams drill he can .

I think he would have to really stand out in the preseason for us to trade Schoonmaker, which is what we would probably do for a late-round pick. I've seen him make some nice catches in videos, but Schoonmaker is making catches, too. He's either got to be practically unstoppable as a receiver or show that he's an all-around tight end and can contribute on special teams as well.

Actually I stand by what I said It was a bad comp.. In my opinion this dude is a physical specimen that's had mental problems with the game and off the field problem but the dude is an absolute beast He is not a small dude like Darren Sproles that may have a 10% chance to make a team and find a little niche role it's a completely different calm if you wanted to say he's the next possible Rico gathers there you go these dudes were jumped out of a gym they both were big strong and tight ends and everyone thought maybe Rico was going to have something but he didn't..

However when this guy's on the field he's not really just project It's his off field stuff his mental stuff his dedication to the game but when he's on the field he's actually can play..

I get it I like Deuce Vaughn as well I was hoping that he'd have a niche but the problem is we already have that guy on this team who's faster and does all the same things, Turpin..

If I was running a team in an offense I can actually find a spot for Deuce Fawn and you can utilize the guy if you were wanting to do that on a team that had a spot special teams he should be a returner on both return teams and it needs to get a lot of work there and then he needs to have a nice roll for gadget plays but again the Cowboys didn't have a role for him but I guarantee he got a bad rap here and he may never get another chance sometimes that happens but I still think if I was running a team I would find a spot for that guy I would make him Darren Sproles but some teams are just not that patient anymore They don't have room on the roster for just a gadget player..

While I would agree with that premise I understand why you'd say that but in my opinion Fairweather was one of the better tight ends last year and I'm no expert but they tried to hide him on the practice squad and guess what they lost him I think he was actually a pretty good I think he was better than fant or scoonmaker and somehow they tried to stash him and they lost...

Fairweather did make it to our practice squad and was on it until December 30, when Arizona signed him. We could have brought him up to the 53 at any point or protected him. Teams can protect up to four players.

I realized our details i'm the one who brought his name i'm saying that we lost him lost the opportunity to develop him because I like him I think he to me should have been one of the 3 rotating tight ends last year I guess only time will tell when we watch him play this year for whoever he plays for because I believe we let one go that we shouldn't have...

You mean undrafted like Tony Romo and Kurt Warner I could name another dozen Some Hall of Farmers some all pros So that's my side of it.. and?

He's so much different than Deuce Vaughn and I'm sorry it wasn't just physical If you didn't read it then don't respond i'm telling you the dude when he is on the field he is a physical presence and he can play the position his problem is off the field he's got knucklehead syndrome that he needs to fix deuce Vaughn was just too small to play and he was a pet cat and all this other stuff this guy is completely opposite and I'm standing by my opinion that it was a bad comp

Schoonmaker is Jake Ferguson 2.0. They are the same player. So unless Ferg is out, there is nothing Schoon brings that is different to this offense. That's why he struggled to find a niche here.

Also, back in 2024 when Ferguson missed substantial time, Schoonmaker produced at around the same level. He's not a bad player. He just doesn't have a role here.

But yeah, he needs to know that he needs to block also. Either he gets that or he doesn’t. Maybe someone needs to tell him that he isn’t fast enough to want to catch passes only.
