We blame Fergy because his YAC last year was garbage. He caught a ton of balls, but broke few tackles. May have been limited by injuries. This year will be the true test.

At this stage the decline is so obvious that even his formerly good run blocking is not nearly as effective either.

Ferg's yards per catch were down. Not his volume of targets.

I believe some of it was he was doing a lot of help blocking and then floating out for outlet passes. What that means is that he often had his back turned to the defense looking back to the QB. Unless you are able to successful spin out of that, your yards per catch is going to be down as opposed to being hit on the run with passes.

I don’t expect a fourth round tackle to ever see the field after the Ball and Waletzko situations. Realistically, they can only hit on OL when using very high picks when other teams use less.

I hear you but we can't pay Dak 60 million a year, pay CD AND Pickens, fix our historically bad defense.. and have 5 all pros on the Oline right now. Like they've mostly got to make due.

This is why bringing in competition for tackle spots was so important this offseason. Yes the primary concern was Guyton but steel could realistically be in a full decline part of his career. Having a true swing that could help stabilize one side would be huge.

He took a pay cut. You don't see that too often. Believe cutting him is a cap hit and at his price even if he isn't the starter he's and adequate back up.

Becton was only good when playing inside at G next to an All-Pro OT. You put Becton at OT, hes probably as bad or worse than Steele.

Decker is solid. Definitely a better T option than Becton. I have to imagine someone will sign him before the season begins. Assuming he is interested in playing.

They never talked about his spot and competition where it’s badly needed. Steele was a weak link and has been for at least two years now. They so worried about Guyton on the other side. Both sides of tackle needed to be addressed.

When you chip a DE and run a 2 yard out, it is difficult to get very much yac. When you release off the snap it is different.

And Ferguson will be forced to help out so CD and Lamb can get down the field. That is not his fault.

Exactly.

It was a pick your poison situation.

They chose to put ALL money and draft picks into a historically poor defense while neglecting the worst passblocking offensive tackles in the league.

Now the season depends on how Schott compensates for this dilemma.

It's gonna suck if the defense's improvent is negated by an offense that is a 3 and out machine and keeps them on the field too long.

Gonna be fun to watch it all evolve.
